You can stop it from happening again by not slipping again?

When you say slip, do you mean fall or slip and something pulled? If you fell, my guess is a hip pointer.

Accelerated Mobility Physical Therapy

If you slipped and pulled something, you'd need to describe the motion better and what makes it hurt.

That all said, if you can, see a sports doctor or whomever is in charge of these things because I'm not a doctor.

sounds like a hip flexor injury, stay off it for a bit depending on the severity, and stretching will help. sit down on the floor on ur but and cross the leg over ur other leg with ur foot down on the floor and just turn your body to the leg that is vertical.

That is a stretch for the IT Band and TFL.

Hip flexor is anterior, his pain is descibed as a side pain.

(That being said... this stretch may help.)

Exact same thing happened to me 3 years ago. I took a rest, everything felt better when I got back but it was still sore. Got progressively worse and I finally went to physio to work on it. Physio thought something was up and a trip to the doctor, an MRI, and a specialist and we find I had some torn cartilage and need surgery.

Not trying to scare you -- just recommend that you do not ignore any pain and go see someone. Catching any injuries early is key and can save you a lot of grief. You don't want to mess around with joint injuries.

You might want to look into having your labrum (sp) looked at. Speaking with my trainers over the last season or two, it seems that hip injuries, especially torn labrums ,are becoming more and more common among goalies these days due to the way we are playing. Having a wide butterfly can put alot of strain on the hips and knees obviously..........
