From The Crease
Does anyone here subscribe to this mag? It has recently been brought to my attention, I ordered it. I got the first issue last week. It seems pretty informative, but was surprised that I have never heard it mentioned here.
Anyone have an opinion on this magazine?

I find it quite informative also, but i think it's a bit expensive with the shippingcosts to europe.
For the people who have never read it, here is one of there magazines in PDF format.

I have been getting FTC and have found it to be quite good in general. It tends to be a bit wordy and bombastic, but when you cut through this baggage the basic instructional content is high quality. Particularly good is the past several volumes have been accompanied with video snippets at the FTC interactive website. This visual aid, combined with the text, is a great combination.

I've read a couple of my friends issues and they seem pretty good, but I do agree with goaliedad in that they are a little bombastic.

FTC is a little wordy, but is a great publication. I've found it to be very helpful.

FTC
BigBossFan,
Did you order all the back issues?
As an absolute beginner I ordered a subscription to FTC including all of the back issues. It was my first reference and was invaluable. Since then I have renewed my subscription and still go back and read the old modules and I continue to find useful new pieces of info that my newbie brain didn't process the first time (not that I'm so experienced now) but it is pricy and I am finding the returns are starting to diminish, especially with other resources out there like keek's CD and upcomming DVD set.
The short of it is, if you've got the money it is great. If you're $$ concious, you have other terrific options.
(On a side note, it is fun digging through the older issues and finding articles by Jukka and (I think) Goaliedad)

I'm thinking about getting all the back issues as well, but at approx 180.00 Cdn, thats pretty steep. The only benefit I see $$ wise, is FTC seems to charge US customers the same as Cdn. If that is the case, we Canucks sure do get a good deal.

Greetings Fellow Subscribers - I too took the hook and ordered all the back issues when I decided to go for the subscription as well, but I do have one question/comment, I know I have been hitting the NyQuil pretty hard this week, but I recall getting something in the mail over the last week to ten days about the coming demise of the printed version of FTC.
Anyone else get the same letter?
Or should I re-package this stuff and start marketing it?
I seem to recall reading something about 'we have covered pretty much all the subject areas of goaltending and are going to concentrate our efforts on building and expanding the web presence of the FTC franchise' - or something to that nature.
I will have to look through the office at home when I get in tonite and see if I can find this......

I have about four FTC issues and it's a bit wordy, but very thorough on the subject matter that it is covering in each issue.
I'm a current subscriber of Goalies' World which has a lot less technical info, thus making it less beneficial, but it's a whole lot more fun to read.

Good point, Goalie's World is not so much the "anvil on the head" approach to goaltending advice that FTC can be. Also has pretty pictures. One nice feature is the frame by frame shot explanation on save techniques. .02 cents.

robbf- I got that, too. it wasn't a NyQuil induced hallucination - they seem to be ditching the mag as Ian Clark goes off into consulting amd running goalie schools. FTC covers everything so far down to the teeniest, weeniest nuance that it is not hard for me to believe that there's any stone left unturned...or any grain of sand, for that matter.
nice!- "bombastic" just doesnt get it's due anymore on most bbs!

I was hoping "bombastic" would get a point or two, but not now that I call attention to it

Well, you picked up two points- one from me for lauding its use, and one for inspiring Joe to repeat it. Double word score! now if there was a Z in it...
