play or not to play in practice game

As per my previous thread...i have my first ice hockey summer leaue game this thursday night.

I havent played in a month due to a shoulder injury.

Question is. I usually play pickup ball hockey on wed nights in a gym. Since I havent played for a while and since i will be playing first league game thursday should i play goalie on Wed night ball hockey or will that screw up my timing and technique on ice.

On the other hand it can be a warmup before thursday since i have been of for a while...

i usually would just play but this is a new team on thursday that I have never met ....so I want to be best preperaed for the first game

I really think it will help warm you up for your league game. Its never good to go into a important game cold from not playing in long time. Good luck!

I think playing roller hockey before an ice hockey game will screw you up. I played a season of roller hockey in 1996, and then quit that for ice. In 1998 I played a roller hockey pickup game -- just once, for only fifteen minutes ... and all the bad roller habits I had been trying to break for months came right back.

A summer season opener game? Not that important of a game in the scheme of things aside from creating a favorable impression [if you don't know your team yet].

Roller goal I haven't done and quit road hockey years ago and haven't looked back since.

I say it depends on how much you want to play net again.

I'd prefer to find an ice game, but some practice is better than none. Just a reminder, double check your gear and show up very early!

Thanks guys, i agree with both , I needed to warm up again but i do notice that when i play ice and go to roller and vice versa it takes a while for me to re- adjust, my stance, moves, butterfly etc....

it was cancelled last night so that took care of that. Now that I will play a game of ice I will get back in the swing of things and teh roller should be easier to deal with

thx
