Boni Machines in Southern California
Does anyone know if there is a place, similar to puckstoppers, in Southern California? What I want is a place I can go to with some Boni Puck Machines and take some shots. Right now my practice consists of pick up sessions (help me, please), and a hockey tech for skaters. The hockey tech is good because for the first half hour or so I work on skating techniques, positioning, and my saves (butterfly, half butterfly, etc.).
But what my main weakness is, and something I want to correct, is rebound control. I am excellent at making the first save, it is the rebounds that kill me. If I could eliminate the rebounds I know I would give up at least half the goals I give up now. So, is there a place that has boni puck machines and ice and/or synthetic ice in So Cal that is open to the public? Anyone here have a setup in their backyard they will let me use? <g>.
Thanks.

Ditto. I'm in the same situation and location, so would be interested in hearing about anything similar.
My local rinks have a few "stick times" (open ice to work on hockey technique, not pickup), but it's usually at some ungodly hour. I just need to convince some of my teammates to show up and work with me.

Really, what rinks have this stick time? Even still, I had a couple of my teammates come out with me to a Thursday afternoon pickup at Glacial. It was just 2 of my teammates, 1 other guy and myself. I tried to get them to work on stuff with me, but they didn't enjoy it, and even still their goal was just to try to score. I was just trying to work on seeing the puck since it has been 2 years since I played, and they kept trying to pick corners on me. This is why I need the machine, cause I can just take shots that I want so I can work on my game.

Chris,
Players aren't the best choice for working on your game. Best bet is to find another goalie in the area that is willing to work with you. Or find several goalies so that you can maximize the workout. I've done a number of 'stick times' helping fellow tenders work on their mechanics. I find it to be fun.

Where in Southern California are you guys at? I know Oatmeal Gardens in Anaheim still has "stick time" or "On the Pond" as they call it. Check out their website for the times.

Chris,
Sorry, shinney is just another word for pick-up or drop-in hockey.

Nope, I never go on Friday nights.
I play hockey tech on Mon. (about the only time I get to work on my own stuff), and then pickup Tuesday afternoon and Friday morning.

Ryan,
You must have skated on the A rink. The B rink, which is used for most shinney sessions, is never frozen all the way.
