I have only ever played at one tournament where the goals were fixed aka. ice hockey style and it was a god send. The net moving is a problem I am all too familiar with but have never petitioned to my detrement to have anything done about it not that I would imagine any good would come out of it in any case. The velcro idea is sweet, although I have neither the expertise or enthuiasm to implement it. Man I wish I wasn't so lazy.......

Whats nice about the velcro, you can just get some velcro tape (tape on one side, velcro on the other) just peel and stick one side under the base and the other on the floor. Thats it.
That being said, I'm too lazy to get my local rinks to do it either.

Hey TannerMan-
Your not with "Time to Shine" are you? I played aginst them at NARCH in Florida a couple years ago and watched a couple games at this years NARCH in St Paul. I play in the adult division for a TOUR squad.
They (TTS) were a good squad and a class act.

Oh wow I didn't know Sonny got hurt, I was wondering why I haven't seen him around of Ref'ing. And yes I agree so does my team, Don is an idiot hehe.
They should post the schedules online & get a real website for the hockey leagues. I'm a web developer & have mentioned I would do it.
They really need to get organized big time, it's one of the best rinks around here size-wise but they can't run it for sh*t hehe. I don't even know what time my game is this week until Sunday! LoL.

No, I wasn't in the TTS squad since I play ball not puck, but our team are gradually being persuaded towards puck since the rest of the world (i.e. America) is only playing puck. Our team all prefer the ball game though. Saying that I would hope that when we take up puck hockey seriously (in the forseable future) we will play well enough to warrant going to Narch as an individual team, we have only one title to capture and then we will have won every major ball tournament award available. Saying that I suppose the standard is pretty high there. Do you get paid for playing?

Hey TannerMan-
I wish I was paid for playing. Our player aren't paid but they do get their gear furnished. The best I can get is my entry fees covered (which I am not complaining about).
As far as our quality of play, the best way to describe to you our level of play would be to use TTS as a benchmark. 2 years ago we beat them 5 to 1(I think) at NARCH. We finished somewhere between 5-7th overall (once again-I think). As for this year, I only watched a game or two, but I don't think they qualified for the playoffs.

Most of Time 2 Shine were Titans (Smurf, Roy Keiley, Ricki Cooper etc.), we beat them on our last meeting 10-3, it would be great to get to the states and perhaps an eyeopener to look for your team to get to a big European tournament (Kaarst Crash Eagles from Germany host a tournament in anually in April, great venue and weekend, maybe you should try to enter, it is Europe's elite, beat them and us and I'll admit puck hockey is of far superior quality to ball). Still I can dream...

The chances of us making it to Europe are slim to none. The only chance we would have is if one of our players who use to race inline professionally in Italy could get his old sponsor to pay the way. Not likely.
At NARCH this year we got 2nd in the Gold Division (Platinum being #1). I think we got 5th at TOHRS National, with no separate divisions. For the most part we are a better then average amateur squad. What hurts us is we really don't practice as a squad much. We are split up when we play local house leagues and only play a few games as a squad in regional competition.
I'm not sure what to expect as far as European inline hockey goes as a whole weather it's ball or puck. What I mean is, regional and national events here are just huge slash/hook festivals. Anything to slow a guy down. Not a style we prefer to play as I fell we have our share of quality skaters. We have a number of ex-speed skaters (one of which has broken 2 different sheets of glass behind the net((him and another guy have been clocked +100mph)), another is 6-4 and 215lbs- not typical speed skaters).
It sounds like you guys are a D1 squad, if we were to play you in ball I'm sure you guys would come out on top. If it were puck it would be a better match.

You're not wrong about the slash/hook festival everytime we play the european 'big boys', but we have come to expect that as being a part of the game. 2nd in the gold division is more than great and a teriffic accomplishment. I'm sure you lads would kick our ass at puck if it means anything, but it would still be interesting (big puck team versus big ball team, like one game with puck, one with ball), it's a concept I am trying to encourage overhere between our selves and the top puck team consisting of most from time to shine. Who knows when or if it will happen but that's life. One day I'll get the courage to go into ice full time and I can leave the polotics in the sport.

Puck or ball, whatever you are happy playing. I think nothing less of ball hockey. I play ice and roller and enjoy them both so no reason to put down ball. But I understand what you mean by the politics I think.
As long as you are playing at a high level (which you are) it shouldn't matter what you play. I enjoy playing with guys who know what they are doing.
As far as our 2 squads going head to head it would be a good match. Our style of play is more controled break out, we are not a real physical team. I don't think we would be any better skaters, maybe faster because of the speed skating background. It sounds like it would be fun to play you guys, win or lose.

Goalie35:
I also play in Wallington. I play for the Mounties in Division 2, who do you play for?
Where's this Circle rink you've spoke about?
Most of my team is from Rockland County, NY and we might be looking for another place to play.

what's up? we're not there this season but will be in Wallington next season.. the Cougars. i play mostly open hockey there now on Saturday nights.
the center circle is pretty good, i'd say it's almost twice the size of wallington's small rink. i live right in rutherford and it takes about 25 minutes to get down there on the turnpike.. it's right off exit 12 not too bad. worth the ride.
later!

Bringing this old thread back to life:
Hey Goalie,
Did you notice that our nets weren't attached this past week? The refs told me that the cold caused the bolts to break or bend, so they couldn't figure out a solution to the problem in time. I think I'm going to e-mail them a copy of this thread for some ideas! LOL
Mike
BTW - What happened to you in our last meeting? After the second period, my team was commenting on how it looked like you just got shell shocked! Hope it wasn't an injury.

Mike,
What's going on? Yeah I noticed that. I didn't realize it until someone crashed into me and the net went flying. I went to put it back on and was like.. "heyyyy where did the bolts go!" lol.
I think I remember that game. I played really bad for 2 reasons. One I still had a hamstring pull I didn't wait long enough and as soon as I got back out there it was bothering me. I didn't play for about 2 weeks figured I was ready but guess not. All is well now though.
And also I just landed about 2 hours before the game from Brazil so I was pretty jet-lagged (8 hour flight) & tired from a work weekend down there. But I had to play we had no backup to play for me hehe.
Refresh my memory.. What was the score how bad did I do? LoL.
Later man!
