Roller hockey tends to be like this. Defense is not stressed very much, and since there is no offside, you can make huge outlet passes and have people go in ahead of you and split the defense. If people are giving you crap, then be a diplomat: Tell them to go to hell, and make them enjoy doing it.

A. Get a shutout every single game. (Seems just a tad hard.)

B. PeePee in every one of your defenceman's bag's until they get the message.

C. Tell your D if they want to win they need to come back.

D. Let in all goals that your D-men don't come back on and on the ones your D-men come back on try real hard to save them.

B. sounds the most fun but I would go with C.

Over the past seven years, I've noticed that the teams I've played for that had good "D", and so-so scoring, usually ended up with a championship......or at least made it to the finals.

The teams that had all the superstars on them, but only had marginal "D", didn't fair quite as well.

The team I'm on now, The Belleville Bulls, has one good "D" line, and one that's not so good. We finished this session 9-2-1, and the championships are next week (Back to back games).......................we'll see how it all pans out.

Tell your "D" to stay on the points, never let someone behind them, pass the puck up- not carry, and for pete's sake never try and knock the puck out of the air when it's a shot on goal!!!!!( Had one scored on me like that Tuesday night!

By playing goal on teams with such bad defence for so long I've actually come to learn how to play defence and I'm now in my 2nd season of defence (don't worry I am NOT a convert, I still play goal for two teams) and my team mates are spun out. They always say "Man, I can't believe you're a goalie" but the thing is I have NO skill. I have reasonable hockey sense and lots of intensity and most of all like most defender I DON'T RUSH FORWARD.
I must say goalies tend to play the position well. We have a team full of goalies that play tournaments together and we always conceed very few shots, and are all willing to block shots.
I know this isn't quite to the point and has little substance, but nonetheless I recommend play a season out in D coz it gives you a different look at the game. I find it has helped my goaltending.
