I play on a light blue MateFlex floor and we use black pucks, thank god! I was getting tired of the pink puck marks on my gear from the red IDS pucks. I have no problem following the puck. We also have just a red crease painted on the blue floor, and a yellow one further out (about 1.5 feet more than the hockey crease) for when the NJ Storm has their lacrosse practices there.

Used to play on a wood floor (Roll-On) and we used red pucks there. Was tough to follow the puck at first, but you get used to it after a while.

Outdoors, blue concrete with black or red pucks. Ther orange or pink ones just disappear once thye leave the surface.

Another problem is the sun. If the sun is low in the sky, I sometimes find myself tracking the shadow of the puck rather than the puck itself....with predictable results.

I play on a white sport court surface with a light blue, NHL style crease. We use black Jofa speed pucks so the experience is as close to ice as roller can get. Its pretty cool, when I first walk into the facility it actually looks like an ice rink.

My league has two rinks. One green and the other blue. Both Ground Zero roller hockey flooring. We usually use red pucks

I have no problems with the blue rink but the green one is much harder to track shots. Especially if we use those bright orange pucks.

In the leagues I play in, we use a light blue sportcourt surface and the pucks vary. Most of the time they're the orangish/red color or black. Both can be seen fairly well.

However...As per what some people have said in earlier replies, the light colored, clear or flourescent (yellow is horrible) pucks are a pain in the butt to find coming at you...especially if they're going over 90 mph.

In the MLRH, the pucks are always black as it should be. I think they're the easiest to see and honestly they dont' bounce as much as the orangish/red ones.

I play on a blue sport court and I prefer that they use black or red pucks. If they are trying to use another color I insist that they switch to either black or red. They damned yellow pucks are near invisible to me.

I went to a pick up session last thursday night at the rink with the dark yellow sport court floor and black creased and dasher board bases.

I opted to skate out for a change (got 2 goal and 3 asst. ) and I counted at least 7 times over the course of an hour and a half that I lost the puck going around the boards. (we were using a black puck.)

It's not the rink owners fault, he bought the rink as a used package deal........but I wonder what the original owners of the rink were thinking with that color combonation!

off topic post:
Cal, do you play at ISCA in wallington, it seems like it fits the description. I'm playing forward in a couple roller leagues in the spring. I used 76A wheels on the sportcourt and they were perfect, stopped like it was on ice and play went really fast. I played at another rink (the rink @ montvale) and its some kind of polished wood surface, my wheels stuck a lot when i tried to pivot and such, but when i was skating i was always losing my grip, anyone have suggestions of what wheels to use or what the surface's real name is? Here's a few pics http://www.rinkonline.com/hockey.htm
