Puck color
I was wondering what color (and brand) pucks you guys use in your league games, and also what color the floor you play on is.
I've been playing on sport court for about 8 months now, and the flooring is yellow. The boards are white, but the bottom plate is black.......the creases are black as well.
Our league has experimented with different colors, but we have recently switched back to black which I am having great difficulty seeing for some reason.
The best color in my opinion is the hot pink or florecent orange. (We use the IDS proshot pucks.)
Thanks,
Rick

I play at two places:
Outdoor, light blue painted concrete: Red puck
Indoors, white sport-court: Red or blue puck
I find the red puck the easiest to pick up. I'm not sure why, maybe something with the contrast. I've also done well with a yellow puck in the outdoor rink. Darker pucks are fine, I just think its easier for my eyes to track something with color.
With all that black in your rink, I'm surprised they'd want to use black. It must be difficult to see along the boards or in the crease!

I hate, absolutely HATE using any color other than black or some other dark color. Red isn't so bad for me, but I lose the flourescent colors too easily. Any shot with speed with a bright orange puck, and I've got no chance.
I play on blue sport court, by the way.

I used to play on a light blue roll-on surface, and I loved the red and black pucks.
We've got playoffs tonight, with the potential to play back to back games......I'm going to try and get them to use the flourecents tonight instead of the black.
We'll see.........

I play on blue Sport Court, and we use black pucks. They're kinda hard to pick up at first, but you get used to it. That's what warmups are for.

Seems to me that black creases are just about the dumbest idea ever. I mean, any other color is acceptable....but black? Terrible.

Where I play, during games they always seem to use orange pucks. I play on a smooth concrete outdoor rink and I guess the orange isn't too bad. During practice we use a bunch of different colored pucks and I think I prefer red best.

Our creases are actually the same color as the rest of the floor, only there's a red line outlining it. Not the greatest design, but it works okay.

My rink is a light blue tile surface called Orb-Court but the end zones are dark blue, and the centre line is quite thick, and it's red. Boards are white, bottom plate is yellow.
We use Orange IDS pucks and they work well. Ocassionally they get lost on the bottom plate but are good otherwise. We can't use anything else really, dark pucks get lost in the end zone, red pucks get lost on the centre line (the rink is 50m long so sometimes shots do come from the centre line) and yellow get lost on the plates. Pink might be an idea though.

HAHA!
Hey Dan, maybe we should ask Karlos if we could use baby blue coloured pucks for the SC, well maybe only for tassie and SA if they send a team LOL.
Could be quite amusing!

Aussie,
In Cincinnati's only year round roller hockey rink they have a blues sportcopurt tile floor, red crease, goal line nad center line , face off dots and dasher boards are yellow. durring games they use black pucks. any other time it is what ever is on the rink when people are done warming up. I can find the blackl puck pretty easy unless there is a scrum in front of the net, and then i loose the puck in the mess of black skates. that is when i usually sweep the crease with my stick and try to knock down as many people as possible.

Well in our first game last night we used a black puck. We won 4-1 (The one goal I bairly picked up at the last second, but it was too late.)
Before the Championship game we talked to the refs about using a different color puck... they said black was all that they had. We started digging in our bags for some decent pucks and we finaly found a good red IDS proshot puck. (I don't bring my good pucks to the rink on game nights for warm ups.......they have a bad habit of dissapearing!)
We ended up loosing 2-1. I played really well, including 10 consecutive minutes of penaltys in the first period........4 of which was a 4 on 2. It just seems like the refs had it in for us or somthing!?!?!?. Oh well, you can't expect to win a roller hockey game if you only score one goal.......the other team deserved to win.
Thanks for all of your in put!

Black pucks in the indoor, sport court facility. Light blue floor. I have no trouble picking up the puck.
Either orange or a yellowish puck at the outdoor facility. Dark green rollon floor. Puck sometimes disappears when down at the other end but that has more to do with the lighting (or lack thereof) then the color of the puck.
For warmups, I prefer a clear puck. Forces me to focus.
