My water bottle on the net solution...
The rink I play at doesn't realy allow water bottles on the goals so I brought in my camelback hydration system (I use it for mountain biking) wich has a bite valve system with a real long flex "straw" It won't leak and I just leave it in the pack so it will never break... works for me.... just an idea. Anyhow the folks at the rink looked it over and approved it for use... to date I have never had a driping problem or breakage...

Do you feel that your body weight shifts more (lean backwards) because of the water? Good idea though.

I heard about somebody trying that, but then they fell on their back and the thing exploded. Like VV4 said, I would also expect that it would throw you off balance.

I bought a the smallest one they make and have it sitting on the top of the net.... the water line clips to the sholder strap to keep it in one place and not hanging down in the net.... yeah I wouldn't wear it.... bad idea!! I could only imagine the mess that would make when it was time to roll to the other side....

I tried this in a game the other day, with my camelback on my back under my C/A. I had the hose running up from my C/A under the chin of my mask, and into my mouth. For the first couple periods, I just left the tube in my mouth, and clamped my teeth down on it when I wasn't using it. I figure I drank about 10X more water those periods than I usually do. For the 3rd period, since I was already sufficiently saturated, I let the hose drop inside my C/A and only pulled it up during breaks.
Overall, it worked great. I didn't notice it at all while I was playing, I certainly wasn't throw off because of the extra weight. I don't think I ended up on my back that game, but these things are made rpetty well, it doesn't seem like it would ever "explode." I'll try it in drop in tomarroiw and see how it goes.

That does seem like a good idea as long as its not too bulky. I always hate grabbing for the waterbottle during breaks. And theres some time during play that I could really use a drink, but its not a smart idea to take off your gloves and turn around mid play...

You're so thirsty that you can't wait for a stoppage in play?
So, who's going to be the first to hook up to an IV?

That Camelbak thing is a really good idea. It kind of makes the net like a water fountain. I wonder who's going get the water company to put in a connection on their net. It shouldn't be too expensive to have a spicket put in. And while you're at it, you could go ahead and have Guinness on tap there as well. Hell, go ahead and start decorating. We've treated the goal as just another piece of equipment for far too long, guys. It's time to move in. The net is your home, people! Start living there!

I thought of using my camel backs, but I find that my water bottle with a straw works fine. It only drips in the summer due to the heat, and the facvt i ice it up prttey good. But i keep it on a towel on top of the net. the only way water comes out is if i squeeze it.
Just my 2 cents.

Haha! That's a good idea though. My players are always stealing my water out of my bottle during faceoffs. It's a pain in the a$$ because i can't skate off to get refills like they can. And they tend not to refill it for me.. That would definately teach them!

I might try that. I don't know where the heck I would put it, though, since I flop around a lot when I'm playing roller, and end up on my back quite a lot.
