help with clearing the puck

man the other night i came to a horrible realization. i really suck at clears. at best i can get it to center. in general my stickhandling skills are bad. are there any kind of drills i could work on on my own to help this situation. im afraid my glove isnt really broken in enough. or im just not holding the stick right when i try to clear. any advice

At practice, you might want to try to adjust where you put your blocker on the top of your stick. Maybe higher or lower, then work on were your glove feels best on the stick.

Also watch your blade in practice, watch for the movement, style you flick it out and also your hand movement.

All I can really say is just test different methods out and you'll find your style soon ( I found my style a few days ago and thought I should pass on what I did)

Only a suggestion though.

go buy a cheap left handed player stick(opr right handed if you are full right)and take a tennis ball or roller hockey puvk and practice shooting and stick handling in your basement or in you garage, thats what i have been doin for a while now and it has really helped me. as foir shooting, you might want to try to find a stick that has a litle more rocker on the bottom, if you have the money try experimenting with differnt sticks.

not to sound rude froggy, but what do you do when you clear it? you shoot, so as your shooting skills grow you will also be able to clear the puck easier

well when is ay i dont care about shooting im talking as far as accuracy when i was clearing before i could barely reach the blueline. but on easter me and my brother in lwa got bored at my grandmothers house and hey i never leave home without hockey gear so we had some fun in the parking lot. and i started holding the stick with my blocker hand lower and my glove lower it worked wonders. then today i went and bought a ray bourque sherwood lefthanded stick i think that will help a lot. thanks for all the advice everyone. my clears are getting a lot better.

plexiglass

you can buy a piece of plexiglass for a few dollars and use it to shoot pucks off of. If you put some car wax on it the puck slides really good. You can even practice with ice hockey pucks, they slide too. I also changed the way I shoot the puck. I close my glove and use the back of the glove and push my stick (instead of the open glove way).
