Sticky pads?

anyone here use "ice hockey" pads on sport court? like any pad w/o cordura? do you stick to the surface or is it like using a pad with some cordura in the inner knee.
also has anyone tried putting talcom powder on their pads..so they don't stick to the surface and possilby slide? if so does it ungrip your wheels and make the floor slippery?

I play on sport court with some older Vaughn pads that I belive are all leather. I stick a little, but have simply gotten use to it. I have thought about adding the stiff part of velcro to help sliding but haven't tried yet. One thing I have learned thanks to other goalies in the crease before me is never use powders, sprays, or anything else that will come off of your pads. It makes the crease very slippery and dangerous for yourself, your D, and the opposing forwards. The best pads I had were a set of custom Brian's with a fabric material on the inside..very good slide.

I put the female (soft) side of velcro on my knee lifts and it helped significantly for slideing.

I use 560s on sport court and don't have any problems. The only time I do have problems is after I have played ice, because it washes the dirty off. Once I pick the dust back up on my pads, I have no stickiness issues.

I play with my R6s on Sportcourt and they stick like bi-otches because the whole inside is Sofrina! It drives me nuts!

I'm letting in so many stupid goals that I would normally get because I can't butterfly slide like I do a lot on ice.

Oogs,

I use eagle ice pads. They were made for an IHL goalies so they are a little differenat form normal Ice so they have a little more Cordura on the inside leg. They slide little beter tha some of my opponents, but not great.

The best recomendation is two parts.

NEVER , NEVER , EVER put anything on your pads to help them slide. It come off the pads and becomes part of the floor. My Eagles are tinted blue on the inside because the crease area is blue and some butt munch amor alled his pads. The chemical reaction between the blue tiles and the amor all allowd some of the color to bleed off thetile and ont my pads. On top of that I refused to play 1 minute of my game until it was cleaned off because I could not even stand in the crease with out my whells sliding out.

The other thing is get used to not moving like you can in ice. It is a different game. The B/F slide you do in ice is not going to happen in roller. If you can slide 3 to 4 feet in ice you will aat best get a foot.

If you want more slide and you don't want to buy new roller pads. Get some covers. Eagle and Thompson make covers. They aren't as attractive , but allow you to slide a little more.

Hope this helps.

BDD
Mike
