Championship game

So I managed to take my 4th place 4-5 and 1 team through 2 rounds of playoffs into the Championship game. I also managed to take the 3rd place 5-4 and 1 team through 2 rounds of playoffs into the championship game. I managed to illiminate the 1st, 2nd, 5th and 6th place teams. It was fun to play in every playoff game this post season. It was super sweet beating the first place AND second place teams last weekend.

Not to toot my own horn or anything but my team has no business being this far in the playoffs. I think my play had a big part in it. We have been severly outplayed and outshot every game this season.

So the 4th place teams regular goalie will be back tomorrow just in time to play for the championship. They are the defending champs from last season.

I have won a championship for every league team I have played for in the last 20 years. In fact this was my first losing season since my Bantam season 20 years ago. If I lose tomorrow it will be a very strange feeling.

Wish me luck!

Whats all this 'I' BS? Hockey is a team team sport so its either 'my team' or 'we', not I .Your only one member of a team so remove yourself from your high horse. Wow you've won trophies so have lots of guys of this board.

You are correct. Bad form on my part. I didn't actualy mean to imply "I" as in myself neccesarily. I am actually very very humble about my role on the team. I never take credit for wins when my team tries to give me credit for them. I rarely even take credit for saves.

So, sorry if it came across that way. Not my intention at all.

Maybe I lost because my unconscious self importance angered the hockey gods.

Until this season I have been very very fortunate to be on really good teams. I am an average goalie at best. Never the best guy but never the worst either. This of course would explain why I never played anywhere important in all of these years.

I think I just kind of worded that first post wrong. Other than the "toot my own horn" part. That was out of line. Again... sorry. Nobody is bigger than the team. I think I used "I" as a substitute for "we" as I was speaking about like, 10 different teams over the years.

As a goaltender I KNOW that my job is nothing more than keeping my team in the game long enough for the offense to score goals. I can't score goals so that is all I can do right?

Although I do use "I" when speaking about a loss most of the time. I take it hard when I let my team down. I want to play well and help the team win. When we lose, I feel at fault for that. When we win I generaly don't feel like it was "I" who won the game. Like I said unless I can somehow score the game winning goal it is pretty much impossible for me to be the reason for a win.

Then why are Ws and Ls part of goaltender stats? Face it, hockey positions may be equally important, but ours is a little more equal than others...

As for the rest... well, facts are facts...
