Netminders Needed

Hi guys,

Jennifer Vinell the BIPHA SE secretary has asked me to post the following:

Goalie's, where are you all? BIPHA SE is looking for goalies of all ages to stop the puck for teams in the South East of England.

Contact bipha_se@hotmail.com if you think you can handle the challenge.

Regards

Jeni

If anyone is interested please give her a shout. Cheers

Stu

If it paid, I'd consider moving. Any information on the league?

British Inline Puck Hockey Association http://www.bipha.co.uk/

Its a non-contact league following FIRS rules. This season BIPHA is split into 8 regions one of which is the South East which had its 1st season at the beginning of last year. (My team got 1 goal 181 against in 6 games).

The SE play league games in Swanley (I believe thats in Kent?) and last season the teams were Guildford Knights, Basildon Titans, Sandhurst Pirates and Tunbridge Wells Tigers.

There are "king of the court" tournaments every month at the moment. (next one 6th Nov). Each team consists of 1 nm and 4 players who play 3 on 3 hockey, no stoppages once the puck drops. Last month we had great fun but for the 6 or 7 teams there were only 3 goalies. (btw it sucks when you're 28 and a 10 year old beats you ) if any nearby teams want to have a crack at that then also contact Jeni. All goalies will be made welcome at these events.

The south east team is a joke at the moment they need people to get involved. My club team spanked them in nationals, a club team defeating a regional club SHOULD NOT happen. The south east has a lot of ball hockey maybe thats why i dunno.

Ill play for the south east regionals if you sign me up to a club as im not playing due to university. As for experience 3 Major International Championships appereances with Bipha GB under 18s

We certainly have issues in the SE. With GBIH playing out of Bisley and BISHA in Farnborough we are competing with well run competitive leagues. As a dev team full of 20-35 yr olds we'd be killed in GBIH. As it is we get creamed in BIPHA SE.

I believe the TW Tigers (Jeni's team) desperately need a senior netminder, so if you fancy it give them a shout. They were the team that gave us the least of a spanking but they're a good bunch of guys. I played behind some of them at the Plate finals last year.

Any idea of teams/locations?

How does the standard compare with GBHI? (which I'm playing at the moment)

I haven't seen any GBIH games but I'm told there is a huge gulf between the level of play. (Hence why our newbie butts are in BIPHA SE) The Titans and the Allstarz play in GBIH and I believe they play their weaker players in BIPHA. (Allstarz play in BIPHA as the Pirates.)

As for locations Sandhurst and Guildford both train at Bisley. TW train at various locations around Tunbridge Wells I think. I have no idea where the Titans or the Brighton Tigers train/play.

The TW Tigers seem to have the biggest need at the moment. I think their oldest goalie is 14 ish.

Well Sandhurst Allstarz are absolutely awful in GBHI this season.
Are there any teams looking for 21s level goalies?

I dont think we should generalise BIPHA against GBHI here. Both have excellent teams and players in them, while BIPHA south east is poor other regions such as Central are very strong with 3 of the final four at senior nationals last year. GBHI have Cruisers, Bipha has Hallamshire Hornets and Norton. Would be good to see a competition between these teams.

I agree McTrout the Northern and Central BIPHA teams are awesome. I played against the Rhinos and the Sumos at the plate last year and they were great. They were the lowest ranked teams of the region so the top teams must be awesome.

CJ send Jeni an e-mail I think she's looking for an U-21 for the Tigers U21 and senior teams. Although the Tigers were the one team we've managed to score against so if you fill their net we'll be screwed. Hey ho.
