water bottle for helmet combo.

What are most of you doing as far as drinking water while wearing the helmet cage combo? are there water bottles with a long spot on them or something? unfortunately without using the mask we cant simply flip up our cage to take a drink. and i dont feel good about trying to spray it into my mouth and get water all over the crease.

A long straw

There are bottles that have a long straw.

A long straw for your bottle can be made by:
-removing the little part that opens and closes the bottle
-putting some aquarium tubing from a pet store through the hole in the cap of your bottle
- and sealing it with shoe goo

I need one too. But i would rather find it on the internet and buy it that way. I believe Giguire (sp?) used it before, long long straw to drink, cuz with roller hockey, you cant let water get on the tile.

or just get the nozzle as close as possible, all the water you dont get in your mouth should run down your face and neck onto your c/a or jersey.

What do i know though, im no combo user...

I use a mission bottle with a long straw, got it off prolineskates.com (which is a UK site), it's a bummer you can't have it on top of the net to drink because you'll wet the floor, it's a pain to keep going to the bench for a drink.

I did this, however I also needed to put a tiny hole in the top for the straw to ...well.....suck properly (without the hole you could not draw water through the straw, you had to squeeze the water bottle.)
The hole is just a pin hole so basicaly no water leaks out, unless the bottle is upside down.
I find I drink alot more water with a straw than I do with a squeeze bottle.
I also now make it a habit to NOT put the water bottle on the net until AFTER warm-ups. My all time favorite water bottle was recently smashed while I was stretching by the blue line....NEVER AGAIN!!!!!

well i went to big 5 and bought a water bottle with a 90 degree straw on it. also while i was browsing around I bought a camelback big bite valve to put on the end instead of having to fight the cap. now all i have to do is pick the bottle off the net, stick it through the cage, bite down on the valve, and squeeze the bottle. Perfect.

I used one that had a spout molded into the cap that was about 5 inches long and curved at a 45 degree angle, kind of like Gigeure (sp?). Unfortunitally some one roofed it on me in a game and the bottle went flying and the top shattered when it hit the ice.
