pad covers

I know in the past, Eagle made pad covers that would work for you in roller and protect the pad. I would give them a call or email.

There's a goalie who plays for a Florida team (collegiate) that wears them. I've never heard him complain about them on inline.

If I was going to order a set of Fusions, and only use them for roller, I would have them custom made using all nylon...An all Nylon pad is the best pad for Roller....

That is the USF (university of south florida) goalie... i have only seen him play once, and wow he played great (it was a few games at sports mall)...

I have played against 2 goalies who wore them, i never talked to them about it, but they seemed to slide nicely on the sport court. Those fusions just look so big!!

When i thought i was going to get v2 pads, i talked to vaughn alot about doing mods for roller hockey. Such as full cordura, and sliding plates. Vaughn said no charges either for it. Now if only i liked the v2s as much as i loved my v1s i would have gone through with it.

One of the DI ECRHA goalies plays in them, and I think I saw a DII guy as well. They seemed pretty good. I'm guessing the nylon knee and calf help things along.

When I had my fusions I used them a little for roller. They don't slide grea (but what does) but there really wasn't any noticable damage done to the pads. The fusions are VERY durable pads. I had mine for 9 months and they looked almost brand new when I sold them. (and i was on the ice 4 days a week). I can see the Fusions lasting 2-3 years if you play 4 days a week on roller.

I have used my fusions for roller hockey 2 times a week for a year.

I see no damage or any problems.

Careful if they are bigger though because they might drag against the ground. It doesnt do that for me anymore. It shouldnt be a problem unless you get really big ones and wear them very loose.

Hey hockeynut,
I'm a roller-hockey goal tender and have played with 36" Fusion's for over a year now. First playing only outdoor with them, now I play indoor mainly.
As someone has already mentioned, they are VERY durable, mine have only a few visible holes near the toes because I played outside, since moving indoors I have seen no damage yet!
Mine were second hand when I bought them but I was coming from using cricket pads so the change was huge! But still when I got worn into them I can skate in them just like when I was in cricket pads, even though they are big pads! But further to that, they are very light, so it helps when you're recovering from a save.
Actual play-wise, I'd say that the knee stacks are the biggest problem for me personally. Because my particular pads have only one knee stack (maybe because they're old), they have a tendency to bruise my knee's but it's nothing that some home-made knee stacks can't deal with but I just haven't got round to doing it because I'm lazy lol
Anyway, I don't see any major problem with the sliding, but it's not like on ice, but what can you expect with it not being ice. Although, since I play roller puck hockey, the floor I play on is still quite smooth, so dependant on what you're playing on will obviously effect your slide.
Apart from that, they are top pads! Any further Q's just ask.
Josh
