I use dental floss and that lasts me for about a month or two.

Here are the lace in slide plates that I made for my new (used) Vortek VK7's a few weeks ago.

Not sure if you can tell, but I tried to wrap the boot plate around that inner corner a bit.

Initially, I thought that sewing in my jenpro tab would be more difficult with the Vorteks because, unlike most pads which feature a distinct seam on the inner edge from two seperate pieces of jenpro used on the face and the inner gusset of the pad, Vorteks use in piece of jenpro that covers the face and wraps around the inner gusset as well. There is some stitching, but it is mostly aesthetic and designed to wear away.

Without the distinct seam, I didn't think that I had anything that I could sew into. But, a clever feature about the Vorteks is that they lace together at the binding in the back medial side of the pad using nylon cord. I was able to easily open up the the pad by unlacing the cord and I removed some of the shred packed LD foam so that I could get to the inside of the inner gusset and sew in my medial roll, using the aesthetic stitching as my guide to for a straight stitch.

Unfortunately, the lace in feature does not extend to the binding in the boot portion of the pad, which is sewn shut. Fortunately, there is a distinct edge along the front seam that I could sew into because different pieces of jenpro are used for the face and the gusset portions of the boot.

obie35's slide plates!

Here are some pictures of the lace in slide plates that I made for obie35's new RBK 6k's (Giguere colors; Turco break). He just received them and had asked me to post these pics that I sent to him, as his camera is not working.

Again, I tried to wrap the boot plate around the inner corner on the binding.

Are removable slide plates illegal? I know there was a discussion on it earlier in the thread but i dont remember if a final decision was made. Mine attach with velcro, they're not tied on or anything

Glad you're enjoying them, Obie!

It was a pleasure to make them and awfully tempting not to try them out myself, haha!

Browse through this thread and do a couple of searches on slide plates and you'll find that you can't really buy them on their own. Battram is the only company that sells pads with slide plates. Everyone on here that has posted pictures of their pads with slide plates has made them. They're something that are pretty pad specific and have to be customized to your own pads.

The eye roll was completely necessary, thanks.

There's the whole debate about protection: Is your glove really protection? Jenpro on the knee wing gives assistance in tending goal.

The part that concerns me is the "altered in any way". Does that mean that Battram slide plates are illegal? They are from the manufacture, but they are altered. Or adding jenpro or pad covers? Where is the line drawn?

According to this definition i would say my slide plates are not allowed, but i would also have an argument against someone using pad covers.

your plates are removable. If they are an issue take em off.

I do not believe NARCH cares about the plates though.

It's fine as long as your plate isn't hanging down off your pad or anything.
