I was wondering if anybody has ever used TEFLON sheets to make slide plates.
I don't know if it would be durable enough.
I am pretty sure it would be slicker........but would that rub off onto the floor and cause a problem.
If anybody is a chemical/material expert please chime in.

i was thinking of using 4L milk jugs (cut up) to make slide plates... cheap, replaceable.

Not me, but I did stay in a Holiday Inn Express last night!

I really have no clue, but I think the Teflon sheets might be too brittle to work with. The HDPE sheets I used are not brittle at all and very easy to with.

Do you mean use velcro to attach the slide plates, or velcro exposed for additional slide?

for additional slide. I'm just retarded when it comes to building things, i dont think i could ever make slide plates, so this idea seems simpler.

I tried it a long time ago; found that the velcro would quickly peel apart from the pad.

That said, it sounds like your skills are on the same level as mine when it comes to building things, so why not give it a shot?

I used industrial-strength velcro, the hook side.

Ouch. Sorry to hear that.

It did add a little extra slide, but least of all the other options I've used. My "evolution" has been from velcro, to Mission Motions with the thermoweld triangles, to Battrams with slide plates.

Yes, I was in the same boat. I've been using velcro for a few years now and it has helped a lot to eliminate the harsh "stick" that hurts my knees (of course, it's still nothing like ice). The trick is you need to use a lot of it for it to be effective (I bought a big role of it off of ebay for $15). I put it on the inside ankle area and the inner shin all the way up to the knee pads. Everywhere that touches the surface when I butterfly. I've had good luck with the velcro staying on the pad (I usually replace it every 15 games or so). I tried both the hard (loop) and soft (felt) side of the velcro, and I think the hard side is better and lasts longer. Obviously this is best done on a set of pads that are past their prime and will only be used for roller (although the velcro hasn't damaged my pads, just left some sticky residue).

Are all those slide plates like sewing through the knee/calf wings of the pads to attach the plates? I want to use my RBK premiers for roller (Apparently the league I will be playing in will be melting the ice and using the laminated-like concrete underneath it). Of course I don't want to damage my RBK's because they'll be used for ice, but I'm not too pleased at the idea of having holes in the side of my pads. Is there any attach-on method or something? Or do I have this whole notion wrong?

I use RBK Premiers for inline on SportCourt. Absolutely no damage at all. Laminated concrete, though, I'm not sure about. I wouldn't be too worried about it, though.

As I am receiving pads that do not have medial rolls but do have lacing through the front of the pad, I am currently trying to whip up an attachment scheme that way. I know Kozik had a similar way of attaching plates to his SP4000s, so I'm definitely taking a page out of his book.

Well DRE75HABS on this board has had experience on the concrete stuff underneath the ice, and I've seen his pads. There's noticeable wear on the toes (I'm not sure if that's purely cosmetic or what) but it's still enough to wear away the colour of the pad there.

That's also heavy use, like 40 games a season, so it's not too bad, but SportCourt definately keeps your pads nicer.
