need mod for ball hockey
wel me and a few friends just started roller hockey league that we're gonna have at this tennis court. its 2 V 2 with goalies and im playing goalie for my team. im not gonna wear rollerblads and im just gonna use most of my ice hockey stuff. i have an old pair of ******* Platinum pads that i wanna use but im afraid of ripping em up. what would be something good to put on the inside edge to keep em from being ripped up? keep in mind this is a 10$ buy in league so i dont wanna spend a whole lot. and yes i searched but im not really interested in full on pad covers. just something for the inner leg and boot

if you wanted to take the easy option just get some sheet plastic, cut it to the size of the inside of your pads and duck tape it onto the pads.
Other than that, you're probably going to require some fairly complex mods.

Do a search on Mont for mods to protect pads. He did some complex mods to some Koho 580s using Kevlar and resin. He also offered instructions on Coke bottle sliders which are a temporary fix. Other than that you could probably buy some slide plates from Battram but you would have to figure out how to install them.

I play on a surface that's just like a tennis court. No wear at all. Otherwise, you could break out the role of duct tape, or get some slide plates. I think some guy was selling some on here. Check those out, they might work for you.

yeah i know about slide plates and i might be looking in to trying to make my own but what im more worried about is the inner boot bottom of the inside shin where i dont think you could put a slider plate. im gonna be wearing shoes under these so teh bottom's gonna be taking a lot of wear

Man, wait till ya see my mods to my old Bauer Reactor's! Black on white with silver Duct tape accents. I JUST redid mine yesterday. Keep in mind that airplane fiberglass and composites are made by criss-crossing strips of fiber material, as is aramid and kevlar in masks and vests, so do the same with a few layers of duct tape and it will help the slide AND protect the pad! Put the strips on parts that wear, inside toes and bottom sides of the bridges... along the inside edges. I'll post pics along with the ones of me taking my C/A to the laundromat.

If you can find any type of medial roll, punch holes in it and lace in plastic sliding plates. I currently use flexible cutting boards. They're super cheap and easy to work with. They're also flexible and light so you won't notice them. If you don't have medial rolls get self-adhesing velcro strips. It will work. It will stop most of the wear and give you a little bit of sliding capabilities. It will wear, get dirty, collect dust, lint, loose threads, anything you can imagine and it will eventually lift up and fall off. You will leave strips of velcro on the rink, in the garage, stuck to your jersey. The important part is it works until you put slide plates on. For binding you're just going to have to use tape and replace it almost every other game if you don't have plates.

I've got a friend that uses duct tape to cover his too. Of course it doesn't look like anything special, but considering it's nothing special of a "league" I'm sure you could make that sacrifice lol. But seriously, he plays on asphalt and has said his pads hold up fine and still slide relatively ok. What I had done for mine was took the cheap plastic covers of the mylec pads and cut them to fit over my ice hockey pads, it has worked EXTREMELY well.

I made pad covers out of tarps and duct tape. cheap and easy.
That way you wont get tape residue all over the pads.

when I play outside I just use pillow cases .. make a slit down the side for your straps and calf protection and cut a hole for each of you buckles . works great..
