A fake double clutch is great (whatever that is?), but mine wasn't fake; I'm really just that bad.

A flick like you're going to pokecheck is very effective when done right against a skater whose head is up. When you play against guys who look at their feet, it ain't gonna do you much good. Keeks showed a vid of Belfour, and with a simple, largely unnoticeable flick, he changed the shooter's angle of approach. It was pretty awesome.

I like to drop my shoulder almost imperceptably, but just enough so the shooter goes "yeeeeeahhh" in his head, and then BAM blocker up, works a lot in roller, don't get a lot of breakaways to try out stuff in ice...

same here.

i LOVE when shooters get all full of themselves and come close in.... muwahahahahaha cause i always get either the puck or their feet in my lap. I kinda charge out in the same direction they are skating but at a slightly aggressive angle so there is NO WAY they are getting in. stick extended of course, but not 100% so i don't lose it in my poke. I use to send it all the way out but then if the shooter's feet were in my lap and the puck was still floating, i wouldnt' have a stick to 'reel' the puck back in to cover it.

I dont know if there is a certain point, or as in to how far a player should come in before I even try it? I must be missing something, because everytime I try a pokecheck, I manage to miss 55% of the time ending in a goal.
when it comes to pokecheck, it depends not only HOW but WHEN as well. i agree w/ one advice here that its a good time to pokecheck when the opposing player either is looking at the puck too long or he/she is crashing to the net. I usually pokecheck w/ one knee down, keep myself balanced as i do it. A quick read of the play is essential in doing it, like if your teammates are backchecking or if there's a trailer. By kneeling on one leg (im a regular goalie, so i drop my right leg ) you keep your balance and you have a pretty good chance of making the save in case you missed the pokecheck.

Just make sure when you pokecheck you try to keep everything closed, like the five-hole or you don't leave your self vulnerable by being in a "stationary" position. Try to stay w/ the attacking player and work on keeping your balance. Don't over commit by dropping on both knees and going for the check.

Or Belfour's sliding dive 15 feet in front of the player.
