Hey, look, you're still talking.
Real advice, please. Not needless bull****.

Oh, I'm sorry, are you under the impression a puck to the head won't hurt when you're on wheels?

Looks like you did really well! I started on roller too, and switched to ice about 8 months ago. At first, I switched back and forth and played both (a few games a week), but I soon found that I had to pick one or the other, because the time I was spending on ice was changing what I was trying to do on roller. I'd go down and my brain/body would expect to slide, and when I didn't, I ended up almost hurting myself a few times. Eventually I just stuck with ice because I enjoy that so much better.
I guess if you mostly do roller, and just do ice now and then, it won't be as bad. But I was doing it the other way around, and I just decided that I should stop roller, just to keep from getting hurt. Either way.... good luck!

Well that is something I will have to keep in mind. I was just picked up by a group of guys who play hockey every week and I am now one of their full-time goalies. So i will be playing a considerable amount of ice hockey now. The reason I am thinking I can balance both (ice & roller) is because my roller hockey season is late-April to mid-August while the ice hockey season early-September to mid-April.

thats pretty much the story of my life right there...played roller for like 12 years, been playing ice now for just about 1 year, theres no going back to the motions of roller hockey for me ice absolutely spoils you as a goalie and you have no idea how much it does till you go onto a surface that isnt as slippery

Well my first roller hockey season since playing ice has started. I definitely see how ice goalies would have a hard time switching. All the slides and movements I learned for ice hinder you on the roller surface.
I am 1 week into the season and I have played 5 games so I got the ice worked out of my system (which is bad cause i still have ice games left haha) and I still love playing roller. It is such a different game for me as for ice I am more position and technique whereas for roller I am more reactive and hasek like. Also, for roller I average 3-5 games a week because i play in all tier levels (weaker ones with friends and stronger ones so I can play more competitive).

Just wanted to link this up as this seems to be the definitive "Inline to Ice transtion" thread.
Here's a thread where I'll be posting up sort of a chronicle of progression. I'm "making a comeback" after about 8 years out of the game and switching to ice at the same time.
New guy from TN. Howdy.
