Pad covers

Ok guys so I've found that my ITECH pads are fine if i use some friction reducing item. I'm tempted to just sew some dish cloths on them, lol. Any way I'm looking for opinions on pad covers. There are 3 on the market, XGS, EAGLE, and Mitchell. Those of you that use pad covers which of the three brands has performed well. Hockey geeks suggested I go with XGS, and Mitchell claims that their pad covers are better because they come in three pieces, better fit I guess.

"In my personal opinion, durability usually comes at a price. In the case of pad covers, with durability comes a decrease in "slide ability". The more "slick" the material tends to be, the less durable it tends to be against rougher surfaces.
So on durability and fit I'd go with the XGS. With slide ability in mind, the eagle may have a slight edge." (Hockey Geeks).

"Our covers are in three pieces held in place with hook and loop so you can get a perfect fit. With the whole inside being of Cordura nylon you will get as much slidabilty as possible and still have durability. It isn't like sliding on ice but I've had customers say that it's about 1/2 to 2/3 of what it's like on ice depending on the type of surface being played on." (Mitchell).

So in your opinion which pad cover is best XGS, EAGLE, MITCHELL? I play on hard wood floors mainly.

The 3 piece is supposed to be better based on not having the flex limitations that the one piece covers have.

Slide plates would be a better idea than a pad cover, but it'l all relative to what you want.

I recently bought the xgs's from hockeygeeks with some mods to it. Shelly said they were far superior to the Eagles. I played one season of inline with the eagle covers and I found them rather annoying. I even burned a hold into the boot area of each cover. The Mitchell's look like crap. Sorry, I'm vain and can not wear something so ugly out there lol.

They dont look that any more. There are quite a few standard designs now.

For example:

I just got my Mitchell pad covers today. I'm pretty satisfied overall. I will need to make a little pouch for the knee stack jenpro cover. The pad covers aren't quite wide enough needs about 2 cm more. Any way, maybe I'll review them when I've actually played a few games. They really would have helped last night though. DAMMIT I need to slide if there's gonna be any chance of stopping 2 on 0s and stopping backdoor plays. Man what I wouldn't give for someone that takes PRIDE in playing defense.

pics plz!!

no matter what you do, there will be no adequate sliding in inline... unless u go with a goalier one but even for that you would need the right kind of surface

If you're looking for pad covers, contact "Soar goalie." I got mine made with him. Custom to have all the holes and loops match my RBK 5k. Cost is $180 for 2 colors. covers work great and they fit perfectly of course. I had Eagles before and they were a tight squeeze to get my RBK's into.

You can find Garnett here ----------> Soar Goalie Gear!

I have ordered a set of Mitchel's and will take pictures when they arrive. He will custom make anything you want on them. I will enclose some other models he has made.

Here is a rear view of the buckles.

I can't complain about mine. They actually do help with the sliding. I should probably review them, (maybe tomorrow). But here's some pics any way.

Cool I ordered the same design but Black and White. How long did they take to make?
