Rink Rat 47mm vs 59mm regarding Profile Narrow or Round....

Ok after looking for a new set of original 59mm goal patrol wheels with no luck, I am having to breakdown a buy new wheels. I feel the rink rat 47mm have the closest to the roundness of the old goal patrols. Now I have used 47mm before and found them to be too slow, compared to a 59mm.

Also, I feel the roundness of the goal patrol wheels helps when pushing on the inner edge during the begining of a butterfly. Will a narrow wheel do the same, better or worse during butterfly stance?

In keeping with that I wanted to get some oppinions on peoples thoughts between narrow or round profile.

And I used the search button...

My take...

I have a friend who uses the 47mm Crossbars and swears by them; for what it's worth, he's really technically sound and is a pretty good all-around goalie so obviously the wheels do their job for him.

I on the other hand only use 59mm wheels. Actually, I've taken a page out of Leafer's book- I use the 59mm Crossbars for my front 3 wheels and the new Revision 59mm's as my back two wheels because they're a bit harder and slide better than the Crossbars.

It really does come down to personal preference but I've found that the "sharper edge" profile of the 59mm's to be easier to play on than the "chubby" profiled 47mm's.

Round profile it is....

I ended up going with the 47mm's and swiss bearings. I got the swiss bearings because I wanted to make up for the difference in speed due to downsizing from the 59mm to the 47mm.

I love the wheels and find them the closest to an ice edge I have ever felt in an inline skate. Stride for stride the distances are the same, making switching back and fort from ice to inline easier. I am glad I purchased these wheels

Im a 47mm user, not tried the Crossbars yet but heard good things about them. Ive got one set of Hyper ones waiting in the wings to use next and then i think ill give the Rink rats a go.

Hope they work out for you

i too used the hyper blue wheels, they broke down and crumbled incredibly quick, from use on solid smooth sports court, not too impressed, major wear showed after a month of use.

i too use swiss bearings for speed skating, there awsome, but wear out quick too
