going playing ice in a hr, any tips
hey guy's
going playing ice for only the 2nd time in 6yrs lol
i went on sat, tbh the up game was easy but as soon as i tried anything down i was wasted, those butterfly slide aint half hard lol
dont think the green fuxx on my pads helped, i got my skates sharpened, but the guy who did them does a generic goalie sharpen, left them with him, so there too blunt for my liking,
any tips for the butter fly side of things, i have watched tons of videos from wogtech to keeks, i know the mechanics, its just the doing lol

give some specifics of where you are messing up and i can tell you if i experienced the same thing at all.
The main diff is ice is slippery (who figured ). so don;t over compensate and slide yourself right out of the net.

Health-wise, make sure you stretch your groin well. A lack of friction will make closing the legs tough on your groin.

well i went last night, tbh i wont be giving inline up for ice lol, the level was so low its untrue, no disrespect to the guy's i went with, but i only let one goal in through scrimage. the shots were very slow, very easy to track, and tbh when i wasnt thinking about trying to slide i did it ok, nothing wogtech style, lol but at that level it didn't matter.
i always though that if i got quite good at ice then i would quit inline and go for ice, but the level of inline i play is far superior to the ice i would ever get.
i dont get how the ice guys can slate inline, for me inline seems a far more skill full game, any ways thats my experience. think its just the novelty, i would love to get on the ice with guys who were really good, guys who can skate and shoot the puck, the would enialate me in net, but i'd prefer that. its a better way to learn, just jump in the deep end lol

I just turned in my official retirement from inline. Roller is just too hard on the knees & hips, and you can't slide as well. Combine that with the heat, the light puck, dirty floors, and the cherry picking and I'll take ice over roller any day.

By the sounds of it you are in a similar position as me. Always been an inline hockey player, just getting into ice hockey.
TBH I don't think you got the full experience if you didn't find it challenging. There are a LOT of finer details to the ice game that make it very technical and take a lifetime to perfect.
If you think you would enjoy ice, play some more and try and get ice time with more experienced players. My brother plays a high level of hockey so I was lucky to get to play with him and his friends. Playing with them made for a very upbeat and intense game. To start I was getting schooled (as expected), but as each ice time passed I very quickly progressed as I got used to the ice game and now I can go mono-to-mono with their goalie.
I am enjoying the ice game so much as the ability to slide is so much easier on the knees and legs. However, for the moment, I don't plan on giving up roller hockey cause i find it is much more of a workout which is great in the summer and I am still young so my knees aren't giving out on me yet.
