I'm moving to Las Vegas in early May. What's the scoop on the roller hockey scene?
I know pretty much nothing about it, other than there are several Crystal Palace rinks and that a lot of tournaments seems to be held there (including the NARCH finals (though not this year))...
Location: Lancaster, CA USA & Port Perry, Ontario Canada
Don't really know much about the leagues in Vegas as I only play there for tournaments. Should be there next weekend as a matter of fact. The Crystal Palace is a fairly nice facility except for a crappy pro shop and locker rooms that are too small. There is a decent pro shop (name escapes me at the moment) away from the rinks tho (has a small ice surface and are constructing the same for roller, to practice/receive instruction on). The facility that we play at has two floors, one better than the other, IMO, as they speed-skate on the other. There is a sports bar overlooking the one rink so it's a great place to watch the games when you are either waiting to play or have finished.
Last tournament I went to at the Crystal Palace, my whole team decided to eat at the sportsbar, and I got pretty sick at my hotel room later on that night. But my whole team ate there, and I am the only one that got sick, so I think i just got a bad batch of chicken fingers.
Last time I was at Crystal Palace, it was so freaking hot after the game I told my guys "If ya'all don't mind, I'm going outside into the desert to cool off."
