this belongs in the equipment forum...

the stuff, is made with cheap materials, so the durability will not be great. a good design constructed with pricepoint care and materials.

He's asking for reviews...so technically he's kinda in the right place, but he's really vague with his question.

Not to sound like I'm sending you away dufferin, but the equipment brand that you are asking about has a bulletin board where I'm sure you could find loads of info on those particular pads...since that's the only brand allowed to be mentioned over there

Its going to be a little bit harder finding un-biased views for equipment made by this company. Their sales methods and general business ways are not the most spectacular. However, I have used quite a bit of their product and really do like the products themselves. If I had more money, I would get something else, but well, you get the idea. That being said...

You are not restricted to just talking about their gear on their board. You ARE restricted to gear that THEY SELL. They do carry other brands. I by no means condone some of their attitudes, in fact, I probably won't buy from them again because of it, but please people, lets get our facts straight.

On their board you are correct- you are allowed to talk about anything they sell...not just their own brand.

However, you are not allowed to say anything negative about it, or your post will be deleted and you will be banned.

I don't think that is entirely true, they do ask for reviews and such. What they don't respect is people who go onto the board specifically to shoot them down and sabotage their product. There was a post the other day from someone who said that his matrix pads were great, but all the straps fell off after a week and the stitching all exploded. Obviously this isn't a real post, if such things do happen they ask for details and offer repairs. I can't really say whether they use cheap materials because i don't make goalie equipment for a living. I will say that I just received my Matrix pads on Monday and they seem to be built as strongly as my Koho's which are being retired. I'm not sure about how the pads will be in another six months or a year, but if anything explodes, i'll tell you.

All I can say is, I played Semi-Pro with their pads, I'm playing 3 times a week for almost a year with them, and they're still in excellent shape.

No wear spot on the colour, no break-down. I'm not playing the usual rec league, I mean Semi-Pro, with East Coast leaguers and Major Juniors guys, also so NCAA Alumnis.

So don't shoot at them just because they sell cheaper. I can understand why Mike Vaughn is mad at them, They took the V2 and sell them almost half price. But for the customers, I can't imagine why you're mad at them for that. If Vaughn was here and shoot at them, I would understand and I see his point and at some level he's maybe right, but you can't argue with their quality. I own a pair and I can see it with my own eyes. I suppose rkj__ never had a pair of *******.

Eh! wo.

I have had ******* pads.

These are the Ultra light XP he is asking about. The "Ultra Lights" are definitely of quality, but the "XP" model is the more "budget" version. Same design and cheaper stuff/cheaper price. These are not pro level pads.

You might be thinking of the Vaughn XP; the last year or so, the Vaughn XP is a Velocity clone they have made for them in China. Blair Witch, on the other hand, builds their XP in Canada, and it appears that except for the flat knees, it closely resembles the UltraLight.

could you then explain the cost difference between the Ultra light and the Ultra Light XP? I think it is cheaper for a reason. I have seen the stuff, and I am pretty sure I know what I am talking about. On the ******* site, it even says compare to the vaughn XP. The vaughn XP is cheaper quality than the velocity.

UL Ultra Lite XP

This is a very different pad from the UL II and is really closer to the Boddam UE Senior line that was being offered and works like them as well, little harder face and less flex than most other box styles.

Softer leather face and foams, not a bad pad for the buck but I would go up to the UL II or others on the market for the difference there is. IF you are playing a lot, I don;t think they will last as well
