Hey guys,
so all this talk about mods has motivated me to finally try and get some knee stacks on my R6's. So here are some pics and captions of what I did..
(hope this works! first time putting pics up..)

So i couldn't find any HD foam near where i live.. dont' have a car either.. so had to settle for, thats right, a door mat!

Cut out the exact shapes of what i wanted..

testing the fit..

ended up wrapping the foam slabs into one stack using a piece of shower curtain i had... and simply duct taped the entire thing

THe before picture

the after

Not nearly as pretty as some knee stack mods i've seen.. but does the job!
there it is, my very own R6 knee stacks!

Skip rules!
Sorry about breaking my own rule on this thread, but I will delete this non-contributing post in a little bit. I just had to comment on skip's mod contribution.
I'm LOVIN' IT! Now that's what you call original.
As long as it works, that's all that matters.

does anyone have any ideas on putting a "Garth Snow"-like block on the boot channel to raise the pads up a little higher? thanks

I was considering doing a Snow-esque pad lift myself, but one thing to consider is, his pads were probobly built with the lift in mind. Brian's took length off the boot, put very little angle on the break, and the pad's ankle to knee measurement would be shorter. So even if you do prop the pad up, it would throw your knee lock off. I may end up trying it just for the hell of it, whats the worst that could happen. I'll probobly try it by layering some camping foam, covering it with duct tape, and lacing it onto the pad.

I did a quick little job on my Beast's that were a touch to short for my liking. Just grab some thicker elastic band and sewed it in a loop around the thread from the stitching on the boot. I wasn't sure for how much of a block that I wanted to put so I left some extra slack in the elastic.
I had an old beat up catcher around that I took the foam out of the cuff and cut itto fit into the boot channel. Once I get around to it, I'll get some foam to fill the channel a bit better.
With the block
Elastic around the stitching

Leather 570 knee wings
The other day i thought to myself, im sicka gettin snow cought up in the knee wing of my 570s. Plus it effects the butterflyslide. So i decided to do somthing about it. I modified my knee wings to like almost a 2nd generation 580 and 590 pad, all leather/clarino (sp). This is my first ever mod, as im usually scared to touch my pads so no flaming lol
Matrerials
Knife
Velcro
Black Thread
Black Leather/Clarino Peices
Nylon
Foam
Adesive glue
Shears
Needle
Paper
Pencil
Process
First off i measured the knee wing, and cut out a stencil using paper. I then used the stencil to cut out 2 peices of nylon in the form of a knee wing (one for each side), and also 2 peices of leather in the form of the knee wing, one to match each of the nylon peices. I then started to sew them together, INVERTED. Idk what the correct term is for that. Before i got totally finished sewing it up, i left a whole in each knee wing, and stuffed it with foam, so maybe it can be considered a knee stack at the same time lol. I then sewed both of them up and had a knee wing for each side.
Then I cut the velcro into the shapes i wanted and used the glue adhesive to keep them together, NOTE THAT THE GLUE MUST BE STRONG BEFORE VELCROING ANYTHING. I then did the same process to the actual knee wing on my 570 pads. waited for them to try, then i velcroed them together. I have ice monday so ill keep you guys up to date on how the glue holds up, i didnt want to sew the velcro ans i didnt want to ruin my pads, if they dont work you can just unvelcro them lol.
Pictures
Note: before you guys go nuts, no and sry i dont have pictures of the actual process if you have quesitons just PM me and ill get back to you quickly. I only have pictures of the final process
Any Questions please feel free to PM me, and advice or tips on how im gona keep the glue from coming undone, PLEASE PM me i really hope it says together

Matrix C/A
Nice mods on the Matrix C/A. Worked like a charm on my old Heaton C/A. I had a chance to wear the Matrix C/A- you can really feel the puck through the padding.

I think I am getting a little better at making thigh boards now. Second time around's a charm.
I also made my own Jill because I didn't like anything currently on the market. I just used some
400 denier nylon
600 denier nylon
HD 80
LD 45
the cup from my old Bauer player's jill
Black 92 weight thread
straps, clips elastic and velcro
Mom's sewing machine
An Awl
And this is what I came up with. I have lots of shots to it now and no more bruising! And best of all it fits me perfect!

This is my mod for people that keep getting their thighboards stuck under their pants.
I've posted it a few times, but it seems relevant to this thread.
STEP ONE:
Do up the top strap of your legpads as usual
STEP TWO:
Tuck the thigh board strap under the top strap
STEP THREE:
Run the thigh board strap across the front of your thigh, making sure it goes around the outside of the top legpad strap
STEP FOUR:
Do up the thigh board strap to a comfortable tightness, and it should look like this
And thats all there is to it. Your thigh boards will never get stuck under your pants again.
The trick to getting this to work, and still having effective thigh boards is to tighten the thighboard straps more than you would normally.
