Vaughn V2 leg pad mod

Does any one know how to add to a +1 pad to get a +3 and not have it look like Frankenstien. I have a brand new set of 35" V2 12" but they are to short up top.

for it not to look franken'd i would say replace the jenpro from the top knee roll up to the end of the newly added thighrise, that would look stock. any other way you'll have a big jagged scar-Osgood style, no matter how good a stitch job.

Since the season is over and I'm gonna be buying new pads anyways I decided to do a little experimenting. I opened up the top of my Summits, unlaced the leg channel down to about the knee. I crudely made a stiffener out of LD foam (not sure which one) and taped 2, 1 inch thick foam pieces about 4 inches long together and put it so that it was half above the top knee break and half below it.

I held the stiffener in place with the leg channel lacing. It's crude as hell and probably won't last through a whole season but the important thing is, I STIFFENED UP MY PADS ALL BY MYSELF!!!! I don't have pics of the inside but I can get pics of the outside if wanted.

I also made new bigger boot risers. There about 2 1/2 inches thick to the old 1 1/2 thick risers. They look about the same as the old ones. One of my boot straps broke so I had to replace it. Let me tell you it's a BITCH trying to feed the stupid strap through HD 110 foam and snaked foam and getting it to go through a hole about 2MM big. It took me about an hour to do it.

Should have used a metal coat hanger and attached it to the strap and fed it through.

Keeps, I wasn't smart enough to think of that. lol.

So I took another look at the thighrise stiffener and it just wasn't stable enough being held in place only by the leg channel line.(That waxed thread) So I took it out. If things get real bad and I don't have enough money at the end of summer to get new pads then I'll buy a sheet of HD 110 foam and use that to add some extra thighrise, and remove the top knee break. Hell I might even reduce the width to 11" if I can. Here are some pics.

Inside of pad thighrise.

The stitch job I made at the top.

Stock.

My stitch job.

How's it look? I know I used normal nylon thread but that stuff is damn strong. I don't think it'll break. I would've copied the same sewing pattern as the stock sewing job but I didn't have enough thread.

Be honest guys, think I got what it takes to make gear eventually? I would love to make gear.

MCM Phantom Glove

Well I used to have one of these gloves many moons ago, I liked it, as you can tell from my screename

The trapper was wicked light, huge and had a deep pocket. There were however some negatives. The palm was very thin and you were prone to getting stingers even from light shots. The glove didn't need a pro palm, just a little bit more padding. Also the back hand protection while adequate was not very user friendly lol

While looking over Craigslist some one local was selling one. It was in OK shape and very cheap. It just needed some TLC. The glove was being used for Roller so it took some damage, all cosmetic. One nice surprise was that the interior was not even broken in yet, and was soft.

Well I got to work! I had some left over Bionic parts that I wanted to use. I first relaced the glove with black webbing and also replaced the T with a Bionic T. lastly I cut the back hand protection and added the elastic part from the Bionic back hand protection that I had lying around.

To address the stingers issue I just simply hot glued a thin 1/8 small sheet of HD foam to the palm area. This added some cushion. So far I have used the trapper twice and have not had any pain when being hit on the palm. I am still getting used to the weight. Its much much lighter than the Koho 580 trapper I was using.

Nice work Eli! Will it still close the same?

And you know your suggestion you gave me for the rib flaps on my H5? Gonna have to do it. Played last night and on a scrimmage, my left rib flap folded in exposing my ribs. Talk about being conscious of something!!! Luckily the attack switched sides and we got a whistle, so i had a chance to fix it.

Hey dudes and dudettes,

I'm looking to add some tabs to lace in knee pads into my pants. I was wondering if anyone had any tips on how to get started. It seems simple enough, but I'm an idiot when it comes to this stuff.

Obviously, as far as materials go, I need the tabs themselves, a needle and thread, but I'd like to know the type of needle and thread and any suggestions on where to get it.

Thanks guys.

Use a sewing awl

Just use some left over jenpro and use the awl to sew it in. Will take you no more than 10 minutes. Seriously its not hard and done be afraid of it.

I dont want to hear excuses that you dont have sewing skills lol
