Outside calf pading...
I didn't notice till now that there is an outside calf foam pocket (similar to the knee landing pad) to keep the new outside plate aligned with the pad.
Pete did it again. Innovative ideas in each series.

Sweet looking gear yo!
Can't wait to get my hands on a pair. Looks like Pete stepped it up another notch. I didn't think she could improve on the 2000 design but I guess I was wrong...
Great pics. I love the cool old woodwork in the house too! Nice.

Although this thread is a virtual advertisement for Smith - which is fine because most people on here seem to really love the equipment - I for one am definitely curious to hear opinions that may not be as favorable. The only reason being that I am currently 3 weeks into my wait time for a set of pads and gloves and am curious to know what features others may not like about the stuff. I think there is room here for all opinions, right?

When I talked to Pete last summer he mentioned switching back to lace for the blocker closure. Looks like he started doing it now!
I can not keep a blocker with a zipper, it always gets hit by a puck at some point and explodes, then the board wants to come out all the time

LOTC gave a very favorable review of the 2000 series gear a year ago:
Smith 2000 Pad Review
So I really doubt it's a criticism of the gear itself, particularly since he's never used the 5000s.

He has been using lace for a while, my blocker from October has it as do the blockers on his web site, which I don't think have been updated for at least a year.
