The 5000 sidewall, according to the pics, is almost exactly like his 1000 and 2000 models only with no ridge. I don't get where you're getting this "way different" stuff.

This is what i meant. The sidewall looks much wider than my 1000. Then again, it could just be the camera....

Yeah, that's what I thought at first also, but after looking at dufferin's pics and comparing them to the ones on the Smith website of the 1000 and 2000 series, it appears to be the weird angle at which the picture was taken.

does the square pad make it harder to rotate on the 5000s?

Sorry, I don't buy the "the review is outdated" dodge by LOTC. Unless things have just changed, all styles of gear back to the 1000 are still being made and sold. If there is a design or craftsmanship issue, tell us. If it is a customer service issue, tell us.

Opinions vary, and as LOTC said, he is a paying customer and entitled to his opinion. But when he says -- I had a bad experience -- and doesn't explain anymore, I believe most will view it as an unfair expression of opinion with nothing concrete to back it up.

That's my opinion.

Let it go. With all the stupid stuff that comes out of people here, I think LOTC is the last person that needs to get crapped on.

There's no rule here that says you need to fully explain yourself when you don't like something. I like my Koho 580s..I don't need to go into a million and one reasons why they're great. I also doubt Mr. Smith will take much offense to his comment either and that's who it really would matter for.

If he doesn't want to comment on it, I respect that. But if it was a flaw with customer-service or the equipment, you should tell us. The review ( Smith 2000 Pad Review ) seems really positive, and there is no mention of malfunction in the For Sale ad. I'm guessing this was customer-service related.

Just on a guess, judging by the opening line of the initial review. Pete didn't like the mods you did, is it possible there was something you ended up not liking after use and Pete gave you the lines of "your mods"? *shrug*

Ok played with the gloves yet lost 4-1 .

Glove felt AMAZING. Loved the thing. Caught about 5-6 shots and really liked it. Shooting is amazzing also. It feels like the shots are more powerful.

The blocker felt good. Took a slapper to the middle and heard a thud but not feeling.

Next up: Full gear tommorow morning.

Exactly. If LOTC has a problem with the actual gear or customer service that will be relevant to the rest of us, just saying "I had a problem" is useless and makes his intentions suspicious. No one is going to jump on him if he says something legitimately negative about the gear or service.

If there is some other personal issue with Pete then it doesn't belong here. Particularly since Pete doesn't post here and can't defend himself (although he does read what goes on here).

I think richman said it best.

"Anyone asking for the dirt when you already are a Smith client and clearly are satisfied with the gear, there's no need to go digging. That is just like looking for a bar fight just to flex muscles...wrong approach."

Well, I think you are both wrong then. I am a Smith client (second-hand, but still...), however if LOTC has something to say about durability or customer service, or something else, I want to know, like several others have stated.

Anyway back on topic, awesome pads. I would have put white trim around the main sport gold stripe but they look pretty sweet anyway.

Agreed. I posted a semi negative Smith review a few years back, the world didn't collapse. Any chance I could get a pm about this LOTC?

My team's colors are just sport gold and black, so I stuck with that. I contemplated adding white, but didn't
