I don't think it HAS to be there, as there are many flexible pads without those stitches, but he said they would still be there, and I didn't really press it, as it wasn't a big deal to me. It may just be how it's done. Also, it's not really just a stitch, it's sort of a fold where two pieces meet...it's a bit hard to explain, but it isn't just stitching across one piece of jenpro, as the shin, knee, and thigh are all seperate pieces.

It looks like it's all one piece to me (except on the outer roll where theres obviously multiple pieces):

The stitch lines is to keep the jenpro tight to the foam and when the flex goes the other way w/o it the cover would be loose.

That's what I figured but I noticed a bunch of 4000s in the gallery didn't have this stitching.

Interesting...I just assumed that's how that was, looking at my Battram set I have no. That shows it probably would be possible to get rid of it, but I suppose it's too late for me. I know I did get rid of a vertical stitch that can been seen on the "camo pads" and Pete said it was to eliminate wrinkling over time. Oh well, it isn't really that big of a deal to me. To tell you the truth, I'm more looking forward to how a totally clean blocker with no logos will look.

It's probably better to have it on there just to keep the material from doing anything wierd anyway. Most other pads (RBK for example) have the cord that goes through the foam and the front of the pad that keeps it all together, but Pete goes with the cleaner look that just requires these couple stitch lines across the front.
