"Official" Smith Thread

Hi guys! I'm officially part of the Smith club now...I just recieved 'cwarnar's Black and White 33"+2.5" sp2000 custom pads, seen here:


My wait time? About a month 'till he came down to ship from Saskatchewan to save me about 100$ in shipping, which I appreciate.

These pads are wicked light! Anyone worried about weight? Forget it...you'll be fine! On top of that, these have all the mods I would have requested myslef, and are the 100% proper size. I am now a Smith convert, for sure!!!

Congrats on the new pads! I'm considering joining the club too, and that's a great color scheme. I've got black and white Vortek gloves, so those bad boys would match me perfectly... ;-)

So I'm playing around with the customizer and want the valued opinion of you fanatics...

I play for a team that has purple jerseys. Pete said he's got some purple that I could use as an accent color. So just think "purple" instead of navy in the image.

Although I must admit...the navy looks pretty stylin too...

Hot dog! Emailed Pete yesterday with a couple of nitpicking questions, thinking that build time was still a couple weeks off, and bang! Pete emails back saying my glorious SP5000s are shipping out Thursday.

I think it will be hard to easily distinguish the black from the purple. I say ditch the black and just go with WH/WH/PR.

I wish I knew he had purple when I got mine.

I'll take some and post them up. They are holding up great! The only thing I've noticed is the sliding toe bridge connectors are starting to break through the material on the toe bridge, so I might need to replace the toe bridges in the next few months.

As for the purple thing.. I know Pete has some "other" colors that he has said he will do as "accents" on pads because the material is not as durable as the normal material he uses... that is where my baby blue is going to come from on my next set... so keep in mind that he most likely will only put small pieces of that color on as trim... He said I could do baby blue on the tiny inside piece of the 5000 graphics without a problem.

We're one of the crowd now!!

Ordered 3000s for my kid today. All black with black logos. 11 inch wide.

After looking more closely at what was available at lower price points (mostly all Chinese made) and seeing that the ******* UL3 or 4 in 11 inch would end up costing about the same price, or maybe even a little more (main benefit being immediate availability), it was a pretty easy choice!

Pete is so mellow on the phone too. I tried to get the transaction done quickly so as to not use up his time.

Hopefully we'll have them before the end of October!

Yeah, I'm not sure I'd want a huge amount of purple on the pads...black matches my gloves more. I like the idea of just a hint/accent of it.
I think it'll show up ok, simply by checking the gallery...
if this is the purple he's got hanging around, it should be fine.

That purple does seem to contrast with the black more than other purple I recall in the past, so it wouldn't be too bad. I was however, meaning just the four small accent pieces. Either way I'm sure you'll be happy with the pads.

When did you place your order? Just trying to gauge when mine might be finished, can't wait.
