Ordered 3000s for my kid today. All black with black logos. 11 inch wide.

After looking more closely at what was available at lower price points (mostly all Chinese made) and seeing that the ******* UL3 or 4 in 11 inch would end up costing about the same price, or maybe even a little more (main benefit being immediate availability), it was a pretty easy choice!

Pete is so mellow on the phone too. I tried to get the transaction done quickly so as to not use up his time.

Hopefully we'll have them before the end of October!

Congrats, you'll be happy with the choice you made! I have so many issues with the way the ****** guys do business that I wouldn't even want to bring it up in conversation here...

Pics requested.. here you go:

Absolutely love my catcher... no wear at all... it's probably my favorite piece of gear.

Little wear on my blocker around the thumb, where my stick sits... obviously an area where a glove is going to wear... no worries, it's still rock solid!

As you see here, I have some wear on the inside edges of the pads on the "rail" as I call it... it's an awesome feature of the 4000's that keep a very minimal amount of pad on the ice surface, but also that means all the wear happens right on those spots that slide on the ice all the time. Really the material is holding up great, nothing has made it's way through or anything, it's just not shiny and red anymore there.. heh.. nobody sees the inside of the pad anyways. And for the amount of action these pads have seen and continue to see, I have no complaints.

Liner/leg channels have no wear at all... a little discoloration because I'm lazy about spraying them down sometimes...

Here is the wear and tear on the sliding toe bridge... as you see one of the rivets that holds it on has nearly pulled through the material and the plastic slider has a lot of wear on it too... really, these are so very easily replaced, I have no worries.. I can easily get replacements from Pete.

I've had my pads for 2 full years of use 1.5 years on my gloves. Most of that time was 3 days minimum on the ice a week. I love my smith pads and gloves and won't even consider another vendor for my next purchase.

Thanks and thanks.

And just for that remark, here is another pic:

I swear I have no pictures of "in between"... I take them when I do reviews and then I didn't take anymore until requested. :P

Smith Pads

Yeah, those pads still look great.

To prevent wear on the side of the pad that comes in contact with the ice, try clear automotive goop. I have been using it with my Ulight3's and Smith 1000's. It works perfectly. It works like Shoe Goo, but it does not peal off as fast.

They're 4000's with just one mod: the bottom 3 straps are leather. I already got to wear them tonite too. I debated weather I should wear brand new pads in a game and decided to do it. I must say I was very good and the pads helped me to a 5-4 victory. They felt great right out of the box. I am soooooo happy with them!!!

We have nothing but good things to say about *******. They have been great over the phone every time I've called them. Went out of there way to get me a great deal on a blocker a few years ago, and their gear was always excellent quality.

However, looking at all aspects of getting new pads, the Smith 3000 seems like such an incredible deal that for the price, I really couldn't see getting anything else.

And Pete just sounds like such a good guy when you talk to him.

Eleven weeks and counting!

parts bag

OK guys, I now have my new pads and even got to wear them last nite,but......Pete sent along a parts bag with replacement parts in it. The buckles , straps and toe bridge hardware are self explanatory but what are the white foam strips for? I was gonna ask after we got my son's pair but didn't want to sound stoopid................
