I never got any white foam strips with my gear, maybe they are something 4000-specific?

Which glove are you looking at? My "old" glove is a 2000 and I feel the classic underhand method works better.
With my new 5000 I like at least trying the turco method.

Sorry to burst your bubble but I've had mine for about 2 years now. Shutout has worn them before, his son has a pair... they are great though. Where do you play at?

The white strips are for the adjustable thighrise. If you raise it up, pull the piece out all the way and put that underneath it for filler, that way it can't get pushed into the top of the pad.

From my recollection, they're all the same - different graphics.

Nope, the 5000 has a slightly different break and a couple other construction-related changes. I was actually somewhat shocked at how different the 5000 felt from the 1000 when I first put it on, because I wasn't expecting it to be noticeable, but it is.
So far I seem to get fewer popouts with the 5000, but I'm not sure if that's just the "new gear effect" or if it is the glove.

there was the original dish smith glove then then reworked which everyone knows about and a thrid one that looks the same but is also a major change.
you could tell by the laces on the catch surface.
one of them has 5 dashes and the other have 6 dashes.
The new one or 3rd generation is the best with a solid notch on the bottom of the heel and reworked thumb.
Of course Pete always tweeks it little by little.

That's interesting to know. I should find out soon.
I was a May 29th order, and it appears that Pete is getting ready for my set soon from the exchange of emails I've had with him (last minute detail stuff).

I would like to see your pads when you get them. I am interested in the 5000s (pads).

Not a problem. You have the Fury's right? I was originally in talks with Battram, but I had so many mods and the fact the Canadian/US exchange rate is slim (plus the FedEx/UPS BS fees) that I opted for the US made Smith's simply because of cost. I've seen Smiths and really liked them everytime too. It was a tough decision though, since I've used Battrams for the past 3 years *shrug*
Incase anyone is curious, this is the color scheme. Silver/White/Red/White
