Here are my new Smith SP 2000's. Well maybe not new, but new to me anyway.
One funny thing I noticed is no one knows who Smith is around here. A couple of goalies told me I was crazy for getting rid of my Brian's for a no-name pad like Smith's. I was just like okay.

I'm right there with you. I've been waiting on my new set to arrive for about a month now. Can't stop thinking about them. Hopefully next week they will arrive! And to GsDAteg it's pretty much the same way down here. If it isn't Rbk or Vaughn pretty much everyone assumes they are trash pads.

Whats funny is one of the goalies telling me that was wearing velo's. I didnt say anything but snickered to myself since he was also basically wearing Smith's, just under a different name, and probably didnt even have a clue. Whatever, I have no need to argue gear with some random dude.
I definitely glad I finally made the switch to Smith's though. Ive been saving for a full set (glove/blocker/pads) from Smith for a while now but am still a ways off from having enough. Was lucky enough to find a nice set of used smiths for a good price so these will hold me over until I save up enough to place my order.

My pads made the gallery!
Just went on the Smith website and saw my new pads in the 4000 gallery. That's kinda cool, if you ask me....... ( they're 2nd row center)

Pete just sent along this shot of my new 5000s on their way to my door right now, and boy, them's a-purdy. I can't wait to cover these bad boys in puck marks!
Edit: They're a 32+3" with the traditional side panel.

Gorgeous, mine are going to be the same color scheme but gold instead of red. They look really great. I should be a week away or so, can't wait.

Nice. That was a May 18th order? Looks like I'm about 12 days away, depending how much he has in front of me (May 29th).

Nice, clean, and simple. I like it. It's probably close to what I would have chosen had I not gone to the dark side to change things up a bit.

I think my 5000s are the only ones not in the gallery.

Hot pads!!! My next set will likely be the same setup, only baby blue insted of red.
As for the comments about about buying "no name" pads or whatever... I found that all you have to do is tell them a little history about Pete... especially the part about designing the velocity's.

I just did that at the goalie camp last week. A young midget goalie has all white Vaughn velos set up(8000 model), and he told me that there was a $400 upcharge for all white request. Needless to say, i suggested Pete's gear and gave the 411 on the velo history.
Hopefully the kid will keep it in mind and let his parents know of it. But, kids with brands these days

Totally with you on the "brand" thing.. but you know what? Smith is a top namebrand by all those in the "know"... and he's busy as heck, so I guess that it's as popular as it needs to be. I like being part of the exclusive club that we're all in.

Yeee Haaa... It's Here, It's Here!!!
My long anticipated wait is over, as my new Smith gear has JUST arrived.
Too bad the blockheaded PostPerson delivered it to my neighbors' house by mistake.
I guess it's a lucky thing that I'm good friends with those neighbors, and that they DON'T play hockey, and they are NOT a Full Right Goaltender! HA HA HA HA...
Anyway, here are a few obligatory & customary couch pics of what I WAS using (my 32 year old Coopers), and my new "SMIFF" stuff!
I have an important industry golf tournament next Monday 8/20, so I probably won't get to use the new gear until the following Monday's workout!
Thanks again Pete, for building me such an AZZ kickin' set of gear!
Ben

For 32 years old those Coopers look fantastic. That is a really nice lookin set of Smiths. I love the grey leg channel. Really seems to make the yellow stand out. Looks really great. Congrats on your pads. Now if only mine would hurry up and arrive.
