Can anyone who has seen the white weave in person give me their thoughts on it (for the main color on a leg pad). I've looked at tons of pictures over the past few hours and can't decide if I wanna go with the weave or regular white, because sometimes on leg pads the weave makes it look like crap.

Also, what about the silver weave, same story except I'm looking to put it on top of the white[weave?] on the 2000 design on the "large sharp like thing that goes upwards"

Or any other thoughts on colors? I'm looking to keep the pad mainly white and/or white weave with maybe some silver or silver weave depending on how it looks.

but like I said I can't get a good judgment from the pictures I've seen, so any in person accounts would be amazing!

My SP 2000s are all white weave, black weave fangs and black straps. The white weave looks awsome. I have no "normal" jenpro at all on my pads. They look very nice, I'm always getting comments on my gear and how good it looks.

The white part of my pads is weave, the rest is regular Jenpro and they look awesome. I really think the weave slides better when used in the calf/knee area. My sons 4000's are regular jenpro on the calf/knee and I seem to get a better butterfly slide with mine. I'm very happy with the weave color. I was a little apprehensive about going with it, but I'm very glad I did.......

I know you said you didn't like what you've seen in pictures, but figured I'd post my pads anyway....they're white and white weave...so you can see the way they look together.

I bought these pads used (thanks LOTC) so I didn't pick the colors. Given that, I'm pretty satisfied with them. These pics are old, so now the pads have a lot more puck marks on them. My next set of gear will probably be mostly white as well, but I'll probably stick with regular white instead of the weave. No real reason, just a personal preference. I don't think the weave looks "like crap" as you said, I'm just a simple kind of guy.

Cheers

thanks for the picture, it was actually pretty helpful as that was one of the possibly color choices I was considering...and as for weave looking like crap, thats just been on a few pads I've seen where it looks yellowish.

I know what you mean the weave looking yellow... seen other manufacturers that resemble that but not Smith weave.
As for the silver weave it is more of a grey.
Here is my navy, white & silver weave pad.

gorgeous pad, if I weren't going for me of a mostly white look I would get something like that...

But your right the silver weave is pretty grey, but I don't know if I wouldn't completely mind just a little bit of that on top of some all white....jees...so hard...

Thanks! Here is the rest of the set.

Yes, the hardest part for me was picking the colors!

i have all weave 4000's with the main color being white. Because the weave is a little more reflective it seems that it absorbs the light in the rink which is why it sometimes looks yellow/goldish because the lights often are. you can really notice it when you look at parts of your equipment that are also white but not weave. having said this though i love the weave and would have them made exactly the same if i had to do it all over again.

aaawall91 PM'd me about some additional pics of my pads, so I figure I might as well post them here in case anyone else is interested in a similar setup. Again, I got these pads used, so I can't take any responsibility for the "mods." If you'd like to see the rationale behind the pads being the way that they are, you can see that here:

LOTC's Original Review

First, a simulated B-fly shot:

From the top:

Although you requested some shots of the leg channel and whatnot, there's not a whole lot to look at in my pads, so I'm not sure these will help you. FWIW, I came from some old school Heatons and love the fact that I don't have all those bells and whistles in there...they seem like they'd just get in the way.

The knee stacks don't look any different than anything you'll see on the Smith site, so I didn't bother taking a pic of them. I know that discoloration is a common complaint with white gear, here's the only place I'm seeing any:

You also asked about how bad they mark up. The first pic I posted (in my post above) was taken right after I gave them a good cleaning w/ the Magic Eraser - at least 4 months ago. Since then, I haven't cleaned them. I play 1-2 times a week with the occasional tournament in there. You'll see that they do mark up, but can also see in my first post that they clean up pretty well too....although the weave is a little harder to get the marks off of.

Hope that helps...if you need anything else, let me know...

Cheers.
