I have a few questions about the Smith Catchers:

1) Does getting the glove in custom colors cost extra?
2) Can you get the gloves other than the 5000 in NHL Spec?
3) If not, can you switch the graphic on the 5000 to another glove graphic?
4) If so, does it cost extra?
5) How long is the break in time for the 5000 glove?

If anybody can answer these, thanks

Took me 5 seconds to break my catcher. It's already game ready out of the box.

I believe:
number 1 is no also if you get the 2000 graphic. Custom colors are never extra with Pete. Custom designs, yes...colors, no.
number 4 would be NO

[quote=redwing30;1164092]Well yesterday I picked up my new Smiths. I was amazed how early they came, it only took 1 day short of 5 weeks. I used them for practice last night, and I love them. Now the specs.
Pads:
5000
36+1
Name
All weave

Glove:
5000
Name
Weave

Blocker:
5000
Name
Weave

SICK pads!!! I can't wait... I ordered my 5000's about 5 weeks ago also, so I am thinking that I might get them soon, so if I don't I will be pissed at you cause you got my hopes up! hahaha

Anyone have some Smith thigh boards that they don't use and would be willing to part with? I took mine off and gave them away but now I'm playing in a league where I can wear them so I would like another set. Send me a PM if you can help me out. Thanks.

Agreed... I wore mine for 1 practice prior to using it for a game... never put my old catcher on after opening the box from Pete. Some people like their gloves floppy, I'm not one of those people.. but his breaks are great, no need to do all the wierd "tricks" that people do, to get them to close all the way... it does that out of the box.

Same here.

Just out of curiousity. Anyone else ever have a problem with the pocket collapsing in on itself? It's not really a problem, but a lot of the times when I make a glove save and it's a hard shot, the pocket (top part that connects the thumb and fingers) will collapse in on the pocket. It just looks weird. If anyone needs a pic, I can get one.

Yes, I have had glove glove cave in on me, however it seems that where it hits the pocket to cave the tee in, is the spot where the puck absolutely will not pop on. It does look weird, but no problem. My problem has been the puck hittign the top of the tee, and instead of deflecting like other gloves, the tee caves in and the puck goes past.

The glove caved in on me once in the first month I had it and then never again in the last year and a half plus. Always figured it was a product of the glove still being a little stiff at the seem of the T when it was new.

I'd like to see an image of what you're talking about, I'm having a hard time picturing it.

It's the T breaking into the pocket not out.

Just out of curiousity, any of you 5000 users try the strapping set up with the behind the knee strap attached to the buckle below the knee (above the calf straps). Just thought I would try something different tonight and wanted to see if you guys have any feedback.
