I think with our sale pricing the costs should be about the same on our top end models with a wait time that has me working 15 hour days 6 days a week to keep our times under 4 weeks...

That's quite the dedication. If I ever meet you, I'm buying you a beer.

I have had my Smith pads and glove set for 5 months now and I can tell you everything is still in great shape and I play 3 to 5 times per week. As far as pop outs I can say this with no doubt, it doesn't happen. Everyone I know that uses this catcher says the same thing no pop outs. First week or so when it was not broken in a few but since about two weeks the puck stays in. Also I really liked working with Pete, for as busy as he is he returned my emails and even called me to confirm a change. Still a 10 on all the gear. Only change I would make is a little more finger protection on the blocker.

Mr Beat, I'm not a fan of weave, but you're set really looks good.

Chakal, how's the flex on the SP-1000's?

^^^ Yes, the outsides of Smith pads are covered in Jenpro rather than nylon.

I'm going to be ordering these pretty soon from Mr. Smith

mods
-"Dubovitsky" printed on pads
-take 1'' off knee lock strap
-all leather straps
-11'' wide

I'm not really a fan of mods but coming from 11' pads i decided to just stick with what i'm used to. Same reason for going with leather straps. I have used quick release clips as well, but still decided to go with leather straps because i prefer their durability.

Thumbs up Comparisons

Just because I can! Here is a comparison between the Velo 1 and a Smith catch. I have had the smith for almost 4 years. I use it an average of 2 to 3 times per week. I would assume this is almost a 1st generation glove, I got it from a board member and honestly I dont remember whom. As you can see the stuff lasts. The Velo I picked up used about a month ago, I dont know its history.

That looks like a 2nd generation. I have a first generation catcher and the thumb is a bit different.

Not much. I'll try to get a pic up tonight. My colors are almost identical to yours except I think the blue and silver are switched.

Pictures are nice but since we can't examine the gloves up close, how about giving us a written evaluation/comparison? Thanks.
