You are just asking to much!, I would have to think and stuff!

The breaks feel very similar; it’s at the lifeline on my hand. I was surprised when I got the Velo as to how little padding it had. It felt thinner than the Smith in the hand and I feel the puck much more, not in a good way; also the Smith is much more comfortable to hold. The pocket on the Smith is much deeper, but not as wide as the Velo. One difference that I like about the Smith is the lack of metal Grommets? (I can’t think of the word right now) around the binding of the glove. That way you don’t run into the problem of it falling out once the glove gets older. The other big difference is the back hand opening. The Smith opens much nicer. Weight wise you can feel the Velo is lighter than the Smith.

They are both nice gloves, they just each play differently.

I believe my glove is a first generation and it does seem more Velo like in the thumb area. Here are a couple of shots that I hope shows the thumb area well enough to see the difference. Oh by the way love the glove.

Hounsy's glove looks identical to mine. The thumb is more dished. I used mine for about 3 years, and my dad has used it for about a year, and it's still going strong. Palm is getting thin but that's about it. Great glove.

Here's a pic of another Smith I used to have. It felt the same but was quite a bit thicker and the thumb was different. It looks like the same model as yours Koho.

I'm picking up a new set of Smith gear later this week, how did you find the transition from the older model to the new?

Yea Hall you are right. Mine is alot thicker than the velo. You can still feel the puck, but I rarely get a stinger. On the velo I had one the 1st time I used it. I do also have to take into account that I was still getting used to the velo.

The Smith in the pic isn't the newest model, but I've owned a newer model too. The transition for me was very easy. The feel is pretty much the same, but the newer model is a little thicker and much more protective. I'd get all kinds of stingers with my old Smith, and hardly any with the new. Stick handling was hampered a little bit, but not much.

Does anybody know if I'd have to pay duties/taxes if my pads are being shipped to toronto, ontario?

It depends if they check your package or not. I payed taxes for the gloves but not the pads (they were shipped one week apart).

Wow it's like the lottery, my stuff gets shipped tomorrow so if I'm reading this right depending on what they do at customs I could be up a few hundred from what I was planning on. I'll keep a finger or two crossed.

Pete sent a shot of the gloves today, really pleased with how the black bindings came out as I was a little worried it wouldn't look the same as on the customizer.

I had to pay 40$ for the gloves and like I said, nothing for the pads.

I believe it was the first week of may...but not 100% on that would have to go through my E-mail at home to know for sure.
