Can anyone give me some insight into the SC2000 and SB2000 catcher and trapper? I am close to picking some up and I wanted to get some additional information seeing as how I've never actually worn them.

I use a Bionic trapper, a Brians DX2 trapper, and an Itech 7.8 xwing trapper as well as a 12.8 blocker.. Can anyone tell me if the 2000's are remotely close to any of these in any ways.. I know that is kind of vague, but any info would be great. I love the Bionic and DX2 trappers. I read through several pages of this thread and I've picked up a little bit of info but anything else would help. Thanks in advance!

thorvonclemson, check out Barren's reviews. He has used the Bionic catcher and the Smith 2000 (I think).

Or you can just wait for him to reply and post pictures of his Smiths

Thanks for the info... I've gathered that with the exception of the 5000's the 1,2, and 4000 series trappers/blockers are all the same structurally. Is that correct?

Heres an important question. I used a set of Vaughn V1's for exactly one practice. I strongly disliked them. Are the Smith gloves comparable to the V1's in any way? I had a lot of problems with pop outs with the V1 catcher and just the general comfort of both the trapper and blocker.. granted they were used gloves but still.

I cant comment on the V1's as i never owned a pair..
but i can say that the smith catcher is one of the best i have ever owned.
No popouts and no stingers.. none..
This glove is simply one of the best i have ever owned/used.

the blocker is well balanced.. and protective no issues..
After a couple of years of use the only thing i needed to do to it was replace the inner plastic piece which was cracked by Jr A slapshot.. damn kids

I can shoot very well with these gloves.. they do not feel clumsy or bulky at all..

My 2 cent.. order them use them.. if you hate them sell them in the classifieds or ebay.. because like most gear.. its tough to judge them unless you use them personally..

any other questions simply call pete..he answers the phone himself and is a great guy to talk hockey with!!
cheers
Jim

Question, I'm having an odd issue.
My Smith 5000's are starting to break in now, and they are holding a nice S shape and when I do my b-fly the meet, just a touch of over lap.
I don't have the V going on, the edges are 90 degrees to the floor.
My issue is that the thigh rise is about half to 1 inch off the floor. Just enough that if puck is on the ice and coming hard it could squeak under.

I actually have had 2 pucks go under the pads there. Now granted this is more of an issue of have your stick there stupid then the pads. But still I'm wondering if anyone else has experienced this issue and if someone has some suggestions.

My camera has been MIA for a little while now but if I can find it I'll put some pictures up to help illustrate what I'm saying.

Not the catcher, I have a first generation Smith glove(ball hockey) and the current model(ice)and they are not alike at all. The first generation is the one like the V1 with the flat thumb, so the current model from Smith is not V1 like at all.

GoPens,

Do your pads have the adjustable thigh rise? My pads have the adjustable thigh rise, and when I close my bfly they aren't flush with the ice. But mine aren't anywhere near to an inch off the ice, and I've had no trouble stopping pucks. Maybe you have your knee straps too tight? If they are too tight, there might be enough tension to lift the thigh rise off the ice.

I was wanting to go up a inch to a 36" pad on my next set (thinking I had 35") but should I now be ordering a 38"? Kinda suprised they measure this big, I'm only 5'10 and they really don't seem that big on me.

hey those were my pads too. lol, looks like everyone has had a go at them. i bought them new from smith, i didn't order a specific size, it was more of a custom thing. i went from them to a 34+1" koho pad, and if i remember correctly, they were very similar in size.

Can In get one of you guys to do me a favour. I would like to know what size the knee wings (lock) and knee block is on the smith pads (Adjustable one that you take pads out of). I am looking to Mod my Millers and would like to go back to a knee set up like I had on my Smiths. Would be interested in the size difference from what i currently have.

Thanks
