On the Ice

I tried out my new Smiths.
I cannot believe how well they slide.
I felt so light on my feet that I forgot I was wearing pads.
The +2 rise helped me shut down the five hole with ease.
I also felt the 11 inch width added more mobility to my game.
These pads have less bulk then my last pads which really
helps make you less sloppy- ha ha!
I definitely have more control and movement in the crease.

Sweet! Wear them in good health.

I also ordered the 2" thigh rise and 11" width, and I can't wait 'til mine arrive. I ordered June 8, so it should be getting close.

I also got +2 and 11" wide...June 18th for me. I'm hoping they get here by the end of the month. I'm keeping my fingers crossed that he sends yours out next week Jerry.

Well I figured I'd add my set to the Smith thread. The pads are 1 year old (about 50-60 ASHL Games). I have put on custom made black +3.5" thighrises made by Pete. I had him make it all one piece right to the bottom of the channel. There are no other holes in them for the straps other than the + 3.5" position. The blocker I had made to go with the pads and the glove I just purchased from patman.

And are hand sewn by damn dirty apes!

Pete's glove worked so well for me I got a shutout.

Seriously! First shut out ever, first league game with my new Smith catcher.

Thanks Barren, That's why I'm hoping this glove works out for me. Looks pretty sweet as a package.

I was just wondering if anyone knew where Pete was at with lead time. I ordered on June 6th, pads and gloves. He did mention he was at 14 weeks, which would be this Friday. Just curious, I did not want to bother him again. Also, anyone have any tips on quick break in of Smith pads and the glove? I know many say it's quick, but I've found it takes months with my X-lites, velo's etc.. Anyone use Sno-seal on Smiths's ? Thanks

Psycho Sid

My first AND ONLY time in the US was in Burlington via Sherbrooke, Québec.

You can get from Massena to Brockport in an HOUR AND A HALF?!? What are you driving, a top-fuel dragster?

The day has finally come, on my way home from work, I stopped at the Post Office and a delivery card was staring me in the face. As soon as I saw the size of the box I knew the wait was over and my Smith SP2000's were finally here.

It only took 2 weeks for them to get (I live in the high Canadian Arctic, fly in only community and most things take 4-6 weeks to get here from the USA). I must saw my jaw dropped when I opened the box, Pete is truly a master craftsmen, and I cannot understand how anyone would be stupid not order Smith gear, for the price and quality are never 2nd to none.

Pad Specs:

- Black and White Jenpro, 33" + 2.5"
- Make More Flexible (Thinned out profile) & Pro Stuffed (Weight Reduction)
- SP 4000 thin boot, thin at the toe, thicker at ankle (Increased Mobility & Recovery)
- 12" pad width at shin (Increased Coverage)
- Square Toe (Increased Coverage)
- "Curty" embroidered
- Pro Square Knee Wing (Pete already has this but mine was made more sqaure)
- Full clarino boot, calf stabilizer & guard and knee wing (Increased Durability)
- Squared up thigh rise (Increased Coverage)

I took pics of most of the mods, if anyone has any questions or would like more pics let me know.

A HUGE thanks goes out to Pete for his work and patience as I flip flopped every other week with my order. Also to JR (aka Lord of the Cage) for his insight on some of the mods and helping me to realize just how amazing these pads are (Hopefully the same will be said about the Vortek Glove set he convinced me to buy).

Enjoy:
