I've been vacilating between a certain brand and the Smith 1000s, and I'm leaning heavily on the Smiths. I want the custom attention to detail, plus the quality. Anyway, I'm thinking about all silver but it seems a few people have that too. I just hate getting the stock black and white, unless that's a team color (which it's not). All matching set. Sort of in the process of budgeting for it. My equipment is adequate but anxious to upgrade.

Thanks...
I agree to anyone that has the patience to wait do it. I def had the patience, i was using Koho Pads (the Roy avalance style) and Helite 4 catch and block, so I was used to the same ole thing. The whole thing buying through Pete has been great.

They have the be the hottest pads out there...
I do not know why, but to me Smith pads are the most appealing looking pads on the market. Followed by Battram Verge or Vortek. There is just something cool looking about his graphics and look of his pad.
I am going to order Smiths this summer...does anyone know which of his pads have the most flexible thigh-rise that closes well in the b-fly? The 4000's seem a bit "Fusion-ish" to me in the sense that if you do not have a wide b-fly, it would be tough to get the pads to bend in and seal shut.
I now have RBK's and I have them really bent into an "S"...the lack of a top strap means you have to rely on your flexibility to get the tops of the pads to close the gap up.
I already know which graphics I want...it is the single wedge that comes down the middle of the pad!
Can't wait!

I have about 4 more weeks until my order is shipped. I ordered retro brown and black with an old style blocker.
I thought about ordering a Vortex glove, but I never received the demo set I was promised. I asked by email and phone. O well, customer service prevails.

I too have about 4 more weeks on my glove order mostly white with blue trim catcher and a retro (cooper waffle pattern) in blue with white.
Can wait to see your gloves and ill post pics of mine. the blocker is going to be similair to the pic

minehart,
very nice looking set!
Having used my SP2000 now about a dozen times, I am loving them. It took a little while to get used to the box style and the additional length but it has been well worth it. Be sure to post a review after you've used the set a few times.

As an older guy wearing SP 4000's I can tell you they seal shut beautifully even with a narrow B-Fly. The thigh portion of the pads is actually quite flexible and takes an S shape nicely. On top of that the thigh boards with the anchor strap system pretty much catches any puck that does happen to get by the thigh rise itself.

Lucky you! I have another 10 weeks to go!... Longer if I decide to go with pads as well as the gloves!
I'm sure the wait will be worth it!

I'm glad the wait is over for my mitts.... I'm loving them and I love having a full matching set now too!
I robbed people blind last night with my glove! Some even celebrated their goals until I dropped the puck from my glove to the ice. Had some sweet pad saves too! The wait is well worth it!!
Minehart - nice set!!!

Thanks everyone. Im really excited to get them tomorrow. I am worried about getting used to them, considering I have the old school Koho Patrick Roy avalalance pads now and Heaton Helite 4 catch and block that I have had for 8 years or so. Be a little different. Guess I will just have to force myself to use them.

I recieved them and used them last night. It was a little overwelming considering I got a complete set of new pads. I am not used to a box style pad and my old medium size helite 4 catching glove was a lot smaller than the smith. Overall I loved the way the pads felt except for a few thigh board issues which I am also not used to. The pads felt so light and were so comfortable. I really cant wait to get used to them. Suprisingly despite what some ppl said I felt the pads werent as stiff as I expected and the catch was so well pre broken in when I got it. Hats of to Pete Smith for an amazing set of pads. Now all I gotta do is get used to them and not let it get in my head that the pads are dif.
