I had 2 straps on my old pads... the transition to one was no big deal at all.. I didn't even notice it. I wear them loose though.

I had two on my old Itech 9.8's... switched to the single boot strap with my Hespeler Quick Response and now My Vortek VK5's and I can't tell the difference either. Heck, I even stopped using toe ties for a while with my last set of pads and couldn't tell the difference. I always wonder why people seem so hung up on the two boot straps.

I've used pads with 2 boot straps and pads with only 1. To me, two boot straps just means one more strap to put on before the game, I've noticed zero functional difference or advantage to having 2 over only 1.

I've found that the two straps are nice for rotation, as are toe ties, IF you do them up with a little bit of slack, but not too much.

Too much slack on either straps or ties, and the bfly will still work, but it will be much looser, and as quick to come down, and will "hang" off your legs, preventing them from squaring up when you pop back up.

With my Blockades and now Litespeeds (Blocks have 2 boot straps, Lites only 1), if I had my toe ties snug with maybe 3/4 inch of slack and the boot straps done so they had 3-4 holes in front (depending on foot/boot size it would be different for everyone, of course) I could bfly perfect every time. I now have an inch slack in the ties, with no bad effects, just a little more give to the pad/toe when I push out a leg in my 'fly.

The only difference from 1 to 2 boot straps was feel, not performance. It felt to me like my pads boot was more securely on my foot, less wiggle, more solid.

I wore two boot straps forever - they were installed on my 1st set of Vorteks (VK3's) - I pulled one out and tried it with one - never went back to two, and won't be anythime soon.

Nothing wrong with that at all.. i have pics of my gloves.
And i daily go down in the basement to my gear and try on each glove.
It just takes a minute . i have to do down in the basement for this or that anyhow...so since i am there i visit the gear..
Smith gear is by far away the best gear i have ever owned.
And early next year i hope to complete the set with custom 4000's
