Anyway, NICE set. Of course I also love the old retro pads.
Yeah, I dont like the weave on the retro blocker. Well, I dont really like weave in general. Just opinion though.

I really like the blue and white waffle though it looks really sharp. I believe thats the first modern waffle I have seen that isnt heritage or black. Your new gloves look really sharp with the pads. From what everyone says about Smith, you wont be disappointed.

Thanks..i wasnt a weave guy either.. original plan was Darren Puppa retro pads and gloves standard white and blue leather.
then the pads came a long at 1/2 price so i went for em.
when they arrived the weave grew on me.. so that is why i am now modern retro. the old school jofa helmet cage completes it..

cheers
Jim

The wait is over. Pete emailed me this morning. The pads are almost ready to be shipped.

Here's the Customizer color scheme.

official-smith-thread-smith_pads.jpg

I'm not trying to match a team color, just went with blue and gold, which I think is classy and attractive. The gold is weave. I wanted it to act as a color highlight as well as to add some texture. I'm contrasting this with the Navy and large white field.

I'm looking forward to ordering the matching gloves later this year.

I'll post a mini review from the point-of-view of an older (not that old) goalie going from a traditional pad to a box pad.

When did you order your pads? I ordered mine on March 24 and he said ten weeks which was last Friday and I'm worried he forgot about me haha.

Yeah, I heard that he usually lets you know if they will be late, so I was a little worried. Not that I can even use them now, no ice in at the rink. But I can't wait haha.

Zeffor, I ordered mine a few days before you. There seems to have been a rush on Pete's gear during that time period.

Yes, his wait time was 10 weeks back then. He did email me a two weeks ago to say he'd be a week overdue. I made it clear it was no big deal to me. I'm just happy to get into some new pads.
