Sentry 2 strapping

As you can see I just got my new Sentry 2 pro set. However this pad is MUCH different than what Im used to. I am not used to the leather strapping at all as i have only owned pads with quick buckles.

Can someone shed some light on perhaps the best way to strap the Sentry 2's for the best rotation. Also, I currently have 1 knot in the toe ties, should I have another one in there?

My first ice session with the gear was very uncomfortable but thats my own fault for jumping into a game with a new set 1st time out with no try out time on them to find a good fit.

Thanks in advance.
X,

I had to tinker with my Sentry 2s for a loooooooooonnnng time. I finally found i had to move the interior knee landings down plus add an additional knee flap to create a snug knee lock fit. I find it fits more like the Velo 2s i had prior.

I fell off the landing alot. Im convinced i was sized wrong in the store. 35+1 and I wore a 34"+1 velo.

As for the straps, thigh semi snug, knee snug around the elastic. Calf straps semi loose and skate loose. Ive got grafs with the elf toe, so i have 5 knots in my skate. I know that sounds like a tonne, but ive gone with 4 and found it just didnt work. Best of luck.

Chester

Hey Buff,

I've had mine a few months. They are a solid pad. The only thing is the irregular stitching around the simulated knee break. The stitching isn't bad just doesn't have a clean finished look to it.
Other things you'll probably deal with:
-straps are to long.
-knee lock velcro strip may be to long
-toe tie will more than likely need replacing for one that doesn't slip out

Other than that I really like playing in these. They rotate effortlessly and I have no complaints.
Most places have them listed at a semi-pro level. I'm inclined to agree in spite of the little things that I've mentioned.
I purchased my set from GoalieSavings on Ebay ($100 in savings). Carl was a good guy to work with. There was a thigh board missing when they arrived and he sent it straight away when I contacted him.

Good Luck on your purchase!
DC

P.S.
Just remembered finding these earlier today. Definitely where you should be looking.

DarnYou, you made me do all that typing. lol

Okay, the blocker is solid. The only thing I don't like is that the thumb sidewall gets in the way of holding your stick so until it breaks in you better have a strong grip to compensate for the stiffness (and get your mind out of the gutter).

Good luck!

Hey guys, i am looking at getting some new Eagles (full set probly) in the future (not to recent, maybe like a year haha) and i was wondering which of these mods that I want Eagle will do for me.

Pads:

Flat-faced
solid and triangular outer roll
custom graphic
rbk-style open leg channel
altered strap setup
pre-curved s-bend (so they close up somewhat like Mason's)
no knee-lock
built in thigh guards but not boards (like the Bryzgalov spec vaughn V3's)

Glove

Deep pocket
double-T
custom graphic

Blocker:

CLone of the Itech 12.8 blocker
Custom graphic

haha I know its a ton but these pads would be my greatest most perfect set ever. I have always had to settle for stock (last year because TPS screwed up my order and I needed new pads by this season because mine were dying) which is by no means horrible but just doesnt fit the pad that I want. Like i want to combine traits from many pads

I'd also like to know that price range. im guessing like what 2.5 grand?

thx a bunch guys, and the graphic i want will be awesome, ill try and find a pic of soemthing close to it for u

Just about everything there but the blocker can be done and most of it can probably be found standard on some of their gear. I'm willing to bet you're really reaching if you expect them to clone an Itech blocker.

haha well a blocker is a blocker to me but I am currentl;y usuing the itech 12.8 and love it. It is lightweight and protective

thanx tho, i had no idea but just have heard that Eagle and Brian's are two companies that are willing to do many mods to their pads.

and am i right about the price range, close to $2500?

luckily I am getting a job haha hopefully at HawkHockey, well its soemthign else now but tstill the store for Goaliemonkey. If not at some boring grocery store haha

If you want an Eagle blocker that is close in weight and performance to a 12.8, I'd suggest this.

Fusion board
1 piece Infinity sidewall
Mustang Palm with mesh finger gussets
All cordura (lightens up blocker immensely, but if it is a lighter color it will get very dirty very quickly)

Eagle Gear Bag

Has anyone tried out this Eagle Equipment Bag? Eagle Pro Goalie Equipment Bag

It seems to be what I want in terms of size, with some nice straps and a strong zipper. I am mostly curious about this inside - if it is one big pocket, or is segmented.

I tried searching under the term "Eagle Bag*" and was greeted with this:
