Learn it. Use it. Love it.
The following methods of searching can be used to make your life, and everyones life easier. Shows phase and what will happen.
1) pad* --- pad, padding, pads, padlock
2) goal** --- all forms of a word: goal, goaltender, goaling, goaler
3) buffalo AND goalie --- buffalo and goalie on the same page
4) buffalo NEAR goalie --- buffalo and goalie on the same page, with results ranked in order of proximity. Pages with these words closest together appear at the top of the list.

6) Vortek OR Smith --- all pages mentioning either Vortek or Smith or both
7) "Vaughn Velocity"--- all pages with the exact phrase Vaughn Velocity

Not a real huge difference.
I usually find I get better results for whole words with the double.

Anyone know how to bypass the automatic exclusion of numbers? For example, say I wanted to view every thread that mentions a Velocity 2 pad in a size 33+2.

Very helpful, I didn't know about any of these except the quotation marks.
Agreed, it should be a sticky.

I figured as much as I've been complaining about it I might as well do something constructive to help the process.

Another tip please?
Good stuff.
Now, suppose I want to search for anything on a DR 8.2 C/A. How is that possible? The DR is too short; the 8.2 is a number; and C/A is too short or too common?
It would be a big help if I knew how to get around this.

DR is pretty tricky.
You could always do C/A*

You can get some results using D&R*, but I don't know if it's enough of what you want.

Somebody could correct if i'm wrong, but I think if its in quotes
EX "Velocity 2" "33"
That would find what your looking for I believe
