Thanks for the reply manitoba. Those are going to look real nice The image doesn't do the actual set-up any justice. They'll be sharp in person

The V3 graphic has definitely grown on me. I like the idea of the weave on the flat jenpro as mentioned by Law and posted by RyJ. Maybe navy with white weave tails?

I was thinking about trying a few other pads out there but I love my Vaughns! I want the V3 now, just need to try on the new glove since I love my 5500/Epic. Every time I get the idea to switch to RBKs or Itechs I just think of how well the Vaughn Velocity pad works for me Just won a championship in one league and trying to go 2 for 2 this season with another final this week...

The new V-3 glove is awesome! I'd have to say with all honesty that they've refined it to a point that for myself, I may not be using any other glove for quite some time. It fits right, it closes perfectly and popouts are a thing of the past, even with the pro palm.

If you like the 5500/Epic, you'll be right at home with this new trap. It's the first time that I actually like a trapper better than my RBK PS-2.

Thanks for the post Gasman I am really excited to get to my shop and try on the new V3 line-up! I may not be looking to get anything till the end of the year, but still love trying on gear. Sounds like Vaughn did well with this new design.

By the way, how would you compare the V3 pad to your PSII's? I always lean to the RBK and then I think about the flex in the Velo and how it works well with my narrow b-fly

I've put in quite a few hours on the new pads....basically I can tell you that I love the boot flex on any Velocity pad and this one is just as good. It is slightly stiffer due to the outer rolls being of a higher density foam. I do in fact like this pad better than my PS-2 for 2 main reasons.....as pointed out - boot flex and the the softer landing pad for the knee areas. I like the strapping setup better on my PS-2 pad though as well as the wider knee setup. So...it's either/or for me.

Both are excellent sets of gear, regardless.

Thanks for the comparison What would you say eliminating the top break in the outter roll of the V3 would do? I always assumed it would make the pad stiffer and not too friendly for people with a narrower b-fly, but since Velos are generally more flexible then say RBK would that mod make that much of a difference to the V3/V2 pad? (Like Halak and some board members here have done to theier Velos)

Gasman,, is it possibell to get the PSII pad flexible? I mean should I put the pads under a bench or something? I think that they are realy stiff.

Actually, from a perspective of what works for you, YES....it sure can help your game. It's all about what works for you. So your telling me that by ordering an extra inch on the thighrise that it won't help close your 5 hole a bit better as well as protect your knee than a pad that was originally 1 inch shorter on the top. It makes a difference....especially if you have a narrower butterfly.

Glad we can agree on something.

i said that based on your unneccesary point about the binding color. it wont neccesarilly make you a better goalie but it will make being a better goalie easier. i would've loved to have a +1 myself but didnt feel like having my dad drop a grand on custom pads so i snagged those on ebay for 900.
thanks on the pad compliment though

Well I ordered all my gear from Wesco in CT last year and have not been there since I picked everything up in October so I was looking to take a ride over there in the near future. I need to call up Doug and see if he has everything I want to try in stock yet.

Anyone have an comments on the V2/V3 with a single break in the outter roll?

Hey guys, real quick....can anyone give me a tip on why my V2's might be leaving a small "V" when I b-fly? The pads seem to be doing this looking at them from the front ----> \/ I tried loosening up the knee lock but that didn't work. I was thinking maybe I don't have enough slack in my toe tie??

i keep my knee straps really tight and i've never had a problem with a V. If you wear your pads really loose it might contribute by having your thighs face a little down. If they are tight, i dont know what to tell you!

I wear my knee strap snug and my leg straps med tight...not super loose. Do you think it could be b/c of my toe ties? I am basically trying to pin point the area that would contribute to the problem...
Thanks for your reply

Thanks for your reply
essentially, your pads are fighting to rotate to close that "v". therefore, you have to get them to rotate a bit more to sit flatter on the ice. If you can loosen your straps , that might help. The key one for me , it to wear the knee lock as loose as possible, to get the pad to rotate and sit flat.

Ya they will look sharp. I'm so stoked right now. I've basically spent the last 3 days with the phone on my lap. I really cant wait.

I got to try out the v3 gloves FINALLY! they really are the most comfortable gloves I've ever out on my hands. Hard to say how they perform but comfort, closure wise they are excellent. I am currently in rbk p1's so I think thats a pretty big compliment to Vaughn. O btw I hate all other Vaughn gloves (yes even the 5500)
