I'd have to agree with Drummy on that, normally. With David Brown's equipment, I'd say the V1's look much better. If Brown went with Navy on the outside and Gold on the inside, then Drummy's statement would make perfect sense. I just think ANY V2's look better with dark on the outside.

Just browsin', came up with this list of mods for a Vaughn set. Let me know what you guys think!
· Vaughn Velocity 2 Blocker
· 8” x 15” blocking surface-Lighten blocker
· Black clarino/mesh palm-Tan palms look like crap
· Silver name embroidery (Carlevato)
· Pro logos/Silver logos-Looks better (too me!)
· Black/Black/Silver
Lace top instead of zipper-lighten blocker, zippers break
· No binding on face-more blocking area
· Velocity 1 graphic-better look
· All nylon black (binding, backhand)-better look
· Vaughn Epic Trapper
· 45” perimeter-lighter weight, more manageable size
· +1” on T-deeper trap to prevent popouts
· Silver name embroidery (Carlevato)
· Silver lacing-location of puck in trap
· Black/Black/Silver
· Pro logos/Silver logos-better look
· No eyelets-lighten glove
· No cuff cheater-legality, more flex in cuff area
· All nylon black (binding, backhand)-better look
· Vaughn Velocity 2
· Thinned out as much as possible/Pro stuffed-lighten pad
· Pro logos/Silver logos, Silver name embroidery (Carlevato)-better look
· 34”+1.5 on thigh-extra 5 hole coverage
· 11” wide throughout pad (NO taper at thigh or at boot)-lighten pad
· Full nylon leg channel (no diamond-grip material)-to facilitate better rotation
· No medial roll-legality
· 1” added to knee lock (Velcro knee lock in at both sides of knee lift)-to fit knee pad in
· 2-piece side roll (see photo)-to stiffen pad
· Epic-style knee lift (1 thick piece) (see photo)-better energy transfer, less compression
· Squared off knee wing (see photo)-more landing area
· Quick release nylon straps everywhere except boot strap and lowest calf strap-lighten pad
· Black/Black/Silver (ALL nylon black. Examples: Bindings, outside gussets, leg channel, etc)-better look
· Plain Jen-pro calf wedge (NO graphics on calf wedge)-better sliding
Comments?

hmmm...don't know really. I need to get a job this summer first, and I don't turn 16 til July, so if I do, I won't do it until later in the summer. Gotta get the $$$$ first!

If i were to order custom v2s, i would pretty much get what pbgas got and did a review on. Price isnt the problem really for me, its the wait time. Its not easy to wait 15 weeks for pads.
Very nice list though shutout.

Buffay, why are you waiting 15 weeks. I was told 8 weeks on pads and 6 on the blocker. When i ordered i spoke to dennis and he said 8 weeks is the maximum for everyone. That totally sucks dude.

It felt very solid all over. Here's the specs for what I ended up ordering:
VP 5500 2003 Model- XL
2005 NHL SIZING
1) Make this upper body in all black.
2) Add rib protection - firm rib protection and add 1/4" HD (2 lb volara HD)
3) Add 1" to overall length of body at the bottom.
4) Arm floaters are to be 7" wide by 7" in height
5) Add layer of .060 plastic to arm floaters between the layers of foam
6) Add 1/4" LD in arm ovals
7) Add extra plastic to the square shoulder floater that connects to the elastic
8) Add extra plastic to front shoulder floater
9) Add extra foam in forearm and biceps
10) Add block to diagonal strip in chest pad base
11) Beef up inside arm using 1/4" HD and LD
12) Vaughn name on throat collar needs to be tone-on-tone

Number 10 is smart. Those diagonal blocks on the 5500s are notoriously weak. Other than that, the 5500 is my favorite C/A ever. Yours is going to be damn near bulletproof.
One question, do the 60 thou' plastic inserts in between the arm floater foam really do all that much?

Can anyone that has had or tried on these compare them?
CATCHER:
Epic vs. Velocity vs. 5500
BLOCKER:
Epic vs. Velocity
I found a thread on the blockers, but could anyone go a little more in depth? Thanks!
