oh yeah, I tried. I demo'd a pair of V2's when I was looking for new pads last summer. They just didn't work for me. I tried almost every strap setting. Then I found the RBK's and I was set. Now, whenever I see a set of V2's that look awesome, I want to try 'em again. Then I realize that the RBK's work so well for me and my style, and the V2's just don't. Just different styles. I might try V2's again this summer to see if they magically work, but I won't count on it. So, not faulty judgement, just my style and the way I play.

here my V1 blocker that i ordered last summer

i ordered black lettering but this was when vaughn was doing all their lettering silver so i just colored it with a sharpie .

It took some time after each ice session because it would wear off but now it holds up well.

I used to use Vaughn gloves before I started experimenting with some other stuff.
The 5500 glove is really a great design as is the B6000 blocker, but nothing else really suits me.

Knee bars?

Ok fellow Vaughn supporters heres my question. Look the the bars inbetween the knee rolls on these guys pads. Nitty has ones that stop on the face of the pad (like the stock V2's), while Kari's wrap around to the inside of the pad. If you look at turco's pre returns on dukes website you will notice the same thing at Kari's.. What is the point of this? Any advantage?

Also Nitty has an extra flap above his landing gear....

Don't quote me on this, I'm sure someone else like RyJ would answer it better but I'll give it a shot.

The wrap-around knee rolls (Lehtonen) are to make is pads more like Kohos. I beleive they add flexibility but I'm not positive.

The ones on Nittymaki's pads are what's stock.

Yes, I believe the Lehtonen knee is to improve flexibility and be a little more Koho like. Also Im pretty sure I remember someone saying that the extra flap on Nitty's pads (not stock) was for the straps or something, I cant exactly remember, but maybe that will spark someones memory. It might have had to do with them getting caught, or digging in or something. I could totally be making that up...Ill shutup now.

Wait, no I wont :

CANT SOMEBODY MAKE A "OFFICIAL ITECH THREAD" i tried and failed, someone with more influence on others could make one
There arent nearly as many people wearing the Itech lines as the RbK, or Vaughn. Vortek is a company on the rise and we do have some of their owners/designers here on the board so that works well to as we have many orders from this board. Itech is also rising in the goaltending world, but probably wont have enough people to contribute to the thread or keep it going like the RbK, Vaughn, or Vortek. Maybe in a few years though.

I believe so, and it had better be; It's the only blocker I want to use.

umm the V2 and V1 blockers are exactly the same except graphics and the V2 blocker board is longer by a half an inch or so.

On the subject of the Lehtonen Knee roll mod, AKA wraparound knee rolls, they are basically the knee rolls off of the 6000 pad, and add flexibility to the pad.

I originally ordered them on my V2s because I was coming out of Bionics and thought they would help the transition, and I really liked the look of them. The pads felt more flexible out of the box than a pair of stock V2s that had been sitting in the shop (and I had been kindof casually breaking in while at work) for a few months.

I really liked the mod, one thing I would highly recommend is to ask for a fully squared thigh rise, for some reason there was a BIG taper on my pads, they were about 12.5" wide at the knee rolls and 10" at the top. Someone else on the board ordered the wraparound knee rolls and got the same taper.

For the sake of reference, this mod is also used by Andrew Penner of the Blue Jackets farm system, as well as Mike Ouzas of the OHL.

edit: Horacegrant, your description of Niitty's flap mod is correct. It's to keep the strap from digging into his leg.
