Diamond grip backing in vaughn pads
I was reading somewhere on this forum, and I tryed the search and I couldn't find the answere to my question. Maybe its just because I don't know what to search for. But I was wondering if the diamond grip backing in the leg channel of the vaughn v3's. Is it really tacky and sticky? Does it actually help with controlling the pad, or does it just hinder rotation, and make things wierd?
It would be nice to have opinions from people who have the diamond grip backing, and from people who have all nylon.
Reason being for this, would be I'm getting some vaughn's customizing them up, but want some opinions on the diamondgrip backing, and if it hinders rotation.

Don't worry, things won't get weird
I have no problems whatsoever with the Diamond Grip. My V3's rotate fine, and I think that material helps absorb the sweat better. Not sure how the all nylon gets during game play.
My logic is simple. Vaughn designed their pads with this, as opposed to all nylon. I'm sure they wouldn't put it in the leg channel if it hindered rotation.

The diamond grip is the same thing as punched nash. It's really personal preference whether or not you want it in your leg channel; I don't mind it but I know Gasman had it removed on his custom V3's (he wrote a very good review if you want to search for that).

Thining out pads, and puck rotation in trapper
I have 2 questions, and they are both pretty simple.
I'm getting Vaughn customs, and everyone that has posted about there vaughn's have gotten them "thinned" out by 1/2inch. Does this make it go from 11" to
10 1/2" or does it have to do with the distance from the inside where your shin is to the outside where the puck hits?
And my second question, what is with the puck rotation? Some people say they arn't asking for the Single T-Bar pocket because there is puck rotation, I've never noticed a difference between my split pocket and my single bar pocket, and I have played with both.
Also is it valuable to get a rienfored T so that it doesn't break down over time, another popular mod.
Any imput at all would be nice.

Thinned out refers to the thickness of the pad, not the width. You can tell if you look at the pads' profile.

By the way... I just heard from the store I ordered my pads through that pads from Vaughn USA are delayed somewhere around 2-3 weeks at least because they screwed up the leather on 150 orders. It wasn't waterproof so they had to get all new stuff for all the pads. And this is on top of whatever pro stuff is being done.

Vaughn USA makes all the gear that GoaliePro orders and almost all of the Finnish NHL goalies get their Vaughn equipment through GoaliePro.
