I like the pads, although they may be a tad too big and boxey for me. Blocker is great but I couldn't get use to the trapper. Everyone kept saying how much is was like 5500 but it's more like the Velo1 trapper.

This is the second time I've tried to leave Vaughn and try something new, and once again, it looks like I'll be heading back to Vaughn.

I've been looking all over the internet for some Velocity's but there is almost nothing with blue in it.

It seems most Velo's are black and red.

V1's vs. V2's Vs. Epics

Hello All,

I know I am sort of in the right place, and could not find a search thread for what I was looking for, so I figured I would begin here, please redirect accordingly.

Here is the deal. Been wearing and loving standard 35 v1's for awhile...love them and suit my game to a T. Got a little stir crazy and bought some Vectors that I do not think will suit me as well. Don't know what I was thinking

Anywho, looking to move the Vector and the old V1's for either V2's and Epics.

I currenlty use moded Epic gloves and love everthing about them, but what about the Pads. I know they are flat faced vs Velos. Will they be too much like the Vectors are a cross between Velo and Vector since they are still Vaughns?

I am mostly after the same leg Channel feel, i hate the looseness of the Vector's channel.

Also considering upgrading from V1's to V2's. Are there any noticieable differences?

With that being said, please comment on the above an feel free to offer up any V2's or Epics that might help me out...mostly white and around similar sizing.

I know this is not the place for selling, and I am more intersted in compare/contrast of the pad choices.

Happy Holidays.

Matt

Matt, I wear Epic gloves and V2 pads. Previously to these pads I had a smaller set of V2's, and I figured if they worked for me and I was comfortable, why change..? I like the comfort and flex I get with them, and since I had a set before, I knew what I wanted to change in them that I didn't like in my last set.
I've never tried the Epic pads, but I've heard that they are a stiff bad (bad for my narrow butterfly) and have too much clutter in the calf area.
If you want some more specifics or pics of my V2's just ask and I'll be happy to post.

Hey Matt,

I recently bought new V2 pads, as well as V2 blocker and a modded epic/5500 glove all nhl spec. I posted pics and mods a few pages back. You can PM me if you have any questions.

I too received my new V2's back in the end of July, and there a few changes I noticed in the v1 and v2. The v2 has a small slit in the calf wrap in the leg channel. If you refer to leaferguys thread you will see what were talking about. Also they made the velcro knee lock replacable. The V1's had a sewn in knee lock, but the new one is velcroed on both sides and able to be removed. On the V2 they made a small difference where your toe sits in the leg channel. They seemed to remove the material in the boot channel. They didnt completely remove it, but it has been shortened. Before the material would run pretty much all the way to the end of the toe, but it has been shortened so there the toe of your skate doesn't make it wear through. Also they have added the calf stabilizer. This prevents you from leaning forward or back while in bfly and keeps you balanced, and I have found that it does make my bfly a bit more stable. They have also added medial rolls along the inside of the pad. Where the face of the pad and knee/calf area(the inside of the pad) meet, they put these small rolls that help keep you slightly more balanced. I believe that is there function and purpose. Any more questions/pictures or anything, just send me a pm. I hope this helped, and please anyone correct me if im wrong. Also I am not sure of any internal changes to the pad, you would have to ask someone else. Happy Holidays Chris #33

Finally got pics of my new gear
What I ordered (Pads)
Vaughn V2
35.5+2
name embroidery
pro logos
swirl graphic (all black, outlines of swirl sport gold)
V1 knee break
pro square extended knee wing
squared up thigh
no tiger stripes
pro stuff/thinned out

They got everything but they made the pads 35+2.5, which ended up fitting better. They also forgot the name embroidery. (this was The Hockey Shops fault, not Vaughns)

Glove
Vaughn 5500
Name Embroidery
Custom colors - Black/Sport Gold
No cheater
Floating T
1.5 inches added to tee
Single Tee
Skate Lace Pocket
Old 5500 break
Bindingless
pro logos

They did not take the cheater off. They also made the glove NHL spec sizing, which I did not ask for. It worked out any way because I like the NHL spec.

Blocker
Itech 11.8
Colors: Black/Sport Gold/Black
Name embroidery

here are the pics:

Wow, you asked for no cheater and they didn't honor that? Nice glove for sure, but I'm pretty sure there's no way it can be pro spec with the cheater still on.

The glove is definitaly pro sizing, I compared it with my old stock 5500 and my stock Vapor and the pocket especially is much smaller.

nice gear eric, i saw it in person a few weeks ago . next time we come down to VA you gotta show me those weekes pads. ive been looking at some kind of combo between the C-10 and the velocitys and those caught my interest quite a bit.

i know this is the vaughn thread, but if you have any more pics would you mind posting them. also, how stiff are they? it would be cool if you could take a few carpet/ghost-fly pics when you get a chance. thanks
